Eight protected items are listed for the Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. Marked hiking trail No. 82 passes through a botanical garden and crosses the Agréau over two footbridges in succession. Heritage and outdoor activity therefore offer different points of focus when planning your trip.

Heritage and a regular event

The Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption was founded in the 13th century by Robert de Courtenay. Together with the eight listed protected items, this offers two distinct points of reference for understanding the site’s cultural heritage: the church’s founding date and the individual items under protection. Those interested in history can consider each as a focus in its own right.

The Kômyô-In temple represents Shingon Buddhism in France and Europe. On the first Sunday of every month, it is open to everyone to take part in the Goma. This recurring event provides a specific time to plan around if you would like to participate. Confirm the date in advance before planning your visit around it.

Hiking trail No. 82: garden, bridges and detours

On marked hiking trail No. 82, you pass through the Jardin Botanique on both the outward and return legs. The garden was created by the children of the village school. Along the way, the route crosses the Agréau over two footbridges in succession. The garden and river crossing provide clear landmarks along the trail.

A detour from the hiking trail leads to the Chapelle Sainte-Geneviève. The sections in between cross private land, but can be walked. Since access should not be assumed to be generally open, check whether the detour is possible before your visit. Further afield in the region around Villeneuve-les-Genêts, hiking trail No. 82 also leads to the Ferrier de la Garenne in Tannerre-en-Puisaye. This destination broadens your view of the region and should be distinguished from the separate detour described to the chapel.

Farm shop and accommodation

Les Grands Champs Les Saveurs d’Antan sells fruit, vegetables, eggs and honey directly from the farm, as well as at nearby markets and fairs. If you are coming for a particular product, check the sales arrangements before your trip. The farm describes its agricultural approach as “agriculture raisonnée” with “0 phyto”.

Le Bois Guillaume campsite has 80 pitches in a seven-hectare wooded area. Escape games and mini golf are also available there; availability may depend on booking and operating conditions.

When planning, it is worth keeping the different conditions in mind: the temple lists a recurring monthly event, you should check the sales arrangements for the farm shop, and access should be confirmed in advance for the detour across private land. This will help you decide whether to focus your trip on heritage, hiking, local produce or the campsite’s facilities.
