Lignorelles offers a distinctive mix of rolling hills, vineyards and local history. Views from the hill across the Serein Valley, walking and hiking trails, and the Church of Saint Martin each offer a different focus. There are also two wine estates with specific information about their vineyard areas and appellations. When choosing a place to stay, you can decide how to balance landscapes, outdoor activities, architectural history and local wine production.

Hilltop setting and views of the Serein Valley

Lignorelles sits on a hill at an altitude of about 240 metres and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, especially the Serein Valley. Its elevated position and the valley views give the landscape two distinct aspects: the hill describes the village’s location, while the Serein Valley is the panorama’s main focus. If you are looking for scenery first when planning your trip, you can make this viewpoint a central part of your visit and explore it alongside the walking trails and cultural attractions of the village.

Trails and small details of nature

There are numerous walking and hiking trails in and around Lignorelles. This lets you make outdoor activity a focus of your stay, whether you prefer a walk or a hike. Wild orchids grow along the banks and ditches beside the trails. If you enjoy noticing details in nature, you can look beyond the wide-open views to the plants along the paths. The views across the valley and the plants along the trails offer different perspectives on the surrounding area.

Saint Martin: church and portal

The Church of Saint Martin in Lignorelles is dedicated to Saint Martin and was built in the 12th century. Its small portal also dates from that century. The church and its portal therefore belong to the same period: one as a whole building, the other as a single architectural detail. Its dedication adds another historical dimension. For visitors who also consider cultural history when choosing a destination, Saint Martin provides a distinct historical point of interest alongside the landscape and vineyards.

Wine production in the Chablisien

Lignorelles is known as a wine-producing village among the communities of the Chablisien. Two wine estates located in Lignorelles offer different ways to explore the local wine scene. Domaine de la Tour has 15 hectares of vineyards; its listed parcels are in Chitry, Courgis and Chablis. This distinguishes the location of the estate from the locations of its vineyards: the estate is in Lignorelles, while the listed parcels are in the three places named above.

Domaine Courtault Michelet in Lignorelles offers four Chablis appellations as well as a Bourgogne Epineuil CĂ´te de Grisey. While the vineyard area and parcel locations are the main focus at Domaine de la Tour, here the focus is on the specific appellations. Together, the two estates offer different ways to explore wine production in the Chablisien.

Domaine de la Tour welcomes visitors to its cellars. If you plan to visit, check the appointment requirements and find out what visitor services are available before setting off.
