The banks of the Saône, the Plan d’Eau and the Voie Bleue offer different perspectives on Fleurville. The bridge, church and château can also be explored through their specific architectural and historical features. When choosing what to focus on, you can therefore opt for the waterways, cycling route or heritage.

Waterways and activities

The Gravière de Fleurville is a 19-hectare body of water on the right bank of the Saône, within the commune of Fleurville. Its size and location on the riverbank give it a clear connection to the landscape. By contrast, the Plan d’Eau is defined by specific areas for different uses—a helpful distinction when considering Fleurville’s water and leisure activities.

The Plan d’Eau in Fleurville offers areas for recreation, wildlife watching and picnicking, a fishing area, and an events area used in part for model aircraft flying. Model aircraft use is therefore limited to part of the events area. The Plan d’Eau has several areas for different uses rather than being dedicated to a single activity.

The Voie Bleue and getting there

Fleurville lies on the route of the Voie Bleue. The surfaced and signposted route from Tournus to Fleurville follows the Saône towpath almost all the way. This places Fleurville on a specific cycling route, whose course is also characterised by its connection to the towpath. The route description identifies the named section and clearly describes its path.

Fleurville–Pont-de-Vaux station is 1 km from the Voie Bleue stage. If you are including the station in your plans, check current train services before travelling.

The bridge, church and château

The Pont de Fleurville lies partly in Montbellet and connects the département of Saône-et-Loire with Pont-de-Vaux in the département of Ain across the Saône. Its design is also clearly specified: three spans rest on two masonry piers. The bridge can thus be described both by its connection across the river and by its articulated structure. For a heritage-focused visit, this brings together a specific construction design and a connection between two départements.

The Église Saint-Symphorien in Fleurville is dedicated to Saint Symphorian. The Château de Marigny is located in Fleurville; a decree dated 28 April 2022 added it to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The church and château offer different points of historical interest: a religious dedication and a dated heritage listing.

The port of Fleurville also has a distinctive architectural form: steps are bordered by two paved ramps, and vegetation covers the structure. Here, the focus is on the design of a port facility and its architectural details. Together with the Pont de Fleurville, these features add two different types of structure to the town’s cultural landmarks.
