Lac des Settons lies within the municipality of Moux-en-Morvan and offers water sports in an exceptional natural setting. Moux also has the Tour de Moux, with viewpoints over the town centre and hamlets, a circular hiking trail, and the Eglise Saint-Denis. The attractions range from water and landscapes to different types of routes and architectural and art history. When planning your trip, it is worth organising the different highlights according to what you would like to experience in the area.

Water sports at Lac des Settons

At Lac des Settons, water sports go hand in hand with an exceptional natural setting. If you are choosing where to go based on your interest in the water, the lake is a clear highlight in Moux. Unlike the Tour de Moux, whose viewpoints look out over the town centre and hamlets, the focus here is on activities on the water. This makes it possible to distinguish between two different interests during a stay without treating the attractions as the same.

Viewpoints and routes in Moux

The Tour de Moux offers viewpoints over the town centre and its hamlets. It can be divided into three sections of 6.8 km, 4.3 km and 4.5 km. The two shorter sections differ by just 0.2 km; the 6.8 km section is the longest. This breakdown makes it easy to compare the routes: you can consider each section individually rather than seeing the tour as just one overall distance. Another type of route is the Boucle du maquis des Fiottes: a seven-kilometre circular hiking trail that starts and ends in Moux-en-Morvan. It is advisable to check local trail conditions before setting out on the Boucle.

Renaissance architecture and frescoes at the Eglise Saint-Denis

The Eglise Saint-Denis is a Renaissance church dating from the 16th century; it was altered in the 19th century. Its old frescoes have been restored and date from the 16th century or earlier. When considering the history of the building, it is worth distinguishing between these dates: the church is classified as Renaissance, the frescoes may be older, and the alterations date from the 19th century. The church is also listed as a Monument historique. The Renaissance building, later alterations and frescoes therefore represent different historical reference points. The listing adds protected status as a Monument historique to this architectural history.

Visit and excursion to the Chèvrerie de Palaizot

Guided tours of the goat farm are available at the Chèvrerie de Palaizot. On an excursion, visitors can accompany the goats through five hectares of wooded land and adjoining pastures. The tour and the excursion have different focuses: one is a visit to the goat farm, while the other involves accompanying the goats through the grounds and pastures. The five hectares refer to the wooded land; adjoining pastures are also part of the excursion. Seasonal schedules may change, so check the dates for a guided tour in advance.
