La Nocle Maulaix can be explored through its water, cycling and local history. At Plan d'eau du Marnant, a rural setting meets the opportunity to swim; two cycling routes offer different connections to the area. On the village square stands Église Saint-Cyr, a neo-Romanesque building, while the former oil mill preserves an older trace of local history. When choosing a stay, you can therefore decide between the waterside landscape, a cycling loop and historical landmarks.

Nature and water at the Marnant

The ZNIEFF area “Les Fontaines Vaillant et les Bruyères Denis” includes the commune of La Nocle Maulaix. This makes a named natural heritage inventory area another point of interest alongside the specific riverside landscape at the Marnant. Plan d'eau du Marnant offers a rural setting with green meadows and tree-shaded banks. Swimming is permitted, with supervision in July and August. Since supervision is provided seasonally, check the arrangements before your trip. There is also a small playground with a slide at the Marnant site.

Cycling routes with different connections to the area

The Boucle de l'étang de La Nocle-Maulaix tourist cycling route starts at the campsite and Plan d'eau du Marnant. On the return to La Nocle-Maulaix, the Boucle cyclo des Etangs follows a small road through the forests of Fours. The details answer different planning questions: the starting points are specified for the first route, while a particular stretch of the return journey is described for the second. Surface conditions may vary, and route conditions can change. So check the latest information before setting out.

Église Saint-Cyr and the former oil mill

On the village square stands Église Saint-Cyr, a parish church and a neo-Romanesque building dating from the second half of the 19th century. Its floor plan is in the shape of a Latin cross: the nave and transept together form the cross shape. The term neo-Romanesque describes the style, while the Latin-cross floor plan describes the shape of the building.

The village also preserves the remains of the former Moulin à huile de la Nocle Maulaix. The former oil mill dates from 1776; its remains are on the village road in front of Église Saint-Cyr. Chronologically, the mill predates the church building from the second half of the 19th century. An older historical trace and a later building connected with village life thus stand side by side.

Visit Domaine de Montprisy

A nature-focused, educational and participatory activity is offered at Domaine de Montprisy. Outside the specified dates, visits are possible year-round by appointment. Arrange your visit in advance. The emphasis on taking part and learning makes this offering different from swimming or cycling.

Season and advance booking

The two visiting arrangements relate to different planning questions: supervision at the Marnant is specified for July and August, while visits to Domaine de Montprisy are possible year-round by appointment outside the specified dates. You can therefore decide whether seasonal supervision at the water or a visit arranged in advance is more important for your trip.
