Guipy offers two different starting points for a stay: the Mille-Clubs and the Le tour des hameaux hiking trail. One leads into architectural history, while the other takes you through a rural setting of hamlets and landscapes. Which appeals to you more can shape your choice of activities and the pace of your day.

Mille-Clubs: Construction date and award

The Mille-Clubs building dates from 1972 and holds the French “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” label, awarded in 2015. In English, the title refers to remarkable contemporary architecture. The two years mark different milestones: 1972 is the year it was built, and 2015 the year it received the award. The Mille-Clubs is also one of the rare surviving examples of this type of building in a small village. The Mille-Clubs is located at 22–24 Rue Saint-Jacques in Guipy.

Château de Précy: Building history and design

The Château de Précy was altered in the 16th century and listed as a historic monument by decree dated 18 November 2010. The alteration is part of its building history, while 2010 is the date of its listing. The structure includes a residential building with a steep roof, flanked by two round towers and a stair tower. Alongside its development over time, the focus is also on specific architectural features: the residential building, the roof shape and the three differently named towers. For a look at historic architecture, the alterations and the described design are two distinct points of interest.

An artistic motif in the Chapelle des Moines

A naïve statue from the 16th century adorns the interior of the Chapelle des Moines. Unlike at the Château de Précy, the focus here is on a single dated work of art. If you are interested in culture, you can distinguish between the design of a building and a statue: building history and architecture on the one hand, and a work of art with a specific date on the other.

Le tour des hameaux: a longer hike

Le tour des hameaux is 14.2 kilometres long, takes four hours and 30 minutes according to the 2025 route description, and is rated moderate. Local trail conditions and access to fields may change. The duration makes this a longer activity; allow for it as a dedicated block of time rather than planning it as a short extra. The starting point is Guipy town hall. Check the local signposting before setting off. The route passes through a rural setting, intimate landscapes and picturesque hamlets. Distance, duration and difficulty level answer different planning questions: the distance describes the route, the time estimate gives an idea of how long to set aside, and the moderate rating provides an additional indication of the level of challenge.
