Marigny-lès-Reullée can be explored through several distinctive landmarks: waterways and woodland, the division between the village centre and the hamlet, and traces of historic churches and mills. To find your bearings in Marigny-lès-Reullée, use its waterways, woodland and the division between the village centre and the hamlet as geographical reference points; the church and mill add historic traces to the picture.

Landscape and geographical orientation

The Chargeolle stream runs through Marigny-lès-Reullée from north to south. The Bouzaise has a different geographical role: it forms the commune’s southern boundary. The Chargeolle therefore flows through the commune, while the Bouzaise marks its southern edge. The Bois de Varache covers the northern part of the commune, adding a named landscape feature in the north to these reference points.

Churches, mill and historic traces

The parish church of Marigny-lès-Reullée is recorded in 1150 under the name Ecclesia de Marriniaco and in 1175 as Ecclesia Sancti Justi de Marregneio. These two dates preserve different Latin forms of the name. The Saint-Luc church is recorded as having been rebuilt in the 19th century in the Neo-Gothic style; it is dedicated to Saint Luke. The date and dedication provide two different clues to its historical and architectural context.

At the edge of the village near the woodland, two concentric ditches, partly filled with water, can be seen. They mark the site of the former motte fort of Marigny. Here, the shape of the ground points to the former structure. At the Domaine de Moisey, also known as the Métairie de Moissey, a rectangular gate tower remains. This tower is a specific architectural feature that helps define the description of the estate.

The Moulin Cailletet also combines historical and architectural details: it formerly belonged to the Carmelite nuns of Beaune. Part of the mill has been restored, and its sluice works are still active. Its former ownership and its present described condition belong to different periods. Reullée was also once a stage on the post-coach route.

Getting there and choosing an area

The RD 973 crosses the commune from east to west and separates the hamlet of Reullée from the village centre. When planning your journey, consider road conditions and traffic separately. The two directions are clearly distinct: the RD 973 runs east to west, while the Chargeolle flows north to south through the commune.

The timetable sheet P 213, dated 29 August 2025, lists bus stops in both Marigny-lès-Reullée and Reullée. Check the current timetable before travelling by bus. This lets you match the two named stops to your specific destination in the area, rather than relying on the commune’s name alone to work out where accommodation is located.
