In Corgoloin, the Clos des Langres marks the exact boundary between the CĂ´te de Beaune and the CĂ´te de Nuits. Together with the large walled vineyard, the medieval history of winegrowing and the historic buildings, it offers insight into different aspects of the town. The Voie des Vignes also adds a route to the picture. If you are looking for a hotel in Corgoloin, these themes can provide a clear framework for planning your trip.

Winegrowing history at the Clos des Langres

The Clos des Langres lies at the center of a large walled vineyard. Its location on the boundary between the two wine-growing regions is a striking geographical reference; at the same time, its history dates back to the Middle Ages. At that time, the vineyard was cultivated by monks from Cluny and Cîteaux. Thus, the same place brings together its position between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits and a historical perspective on the cultivation of the vineyard.

The buildings at the Domaine d’Ardhuy site in the Clos des Langres also reflect different periods: there are cellars dating from the 17th century and a wine press from the 18th century. The cellars are therefore older than the press. Together with the medieval history of the Clos, they create a chronology that connects winegrowing with historic buildings.

Château de Cussigny and Église Sainte-Anne

At the Château de Cussigny, the layout is defined by a rectangular ground plan with a central building and two wings, as well as outbuildings arranged around a square courtyard. There is also a dovecote. The façades and roofs, the chapel, the dovecote and the park are protected as Monuments historiques. The first recorded mention of the fortified house dates to 1356, when it was attacked by an English force. Alongside the layout, this brings a specific historical episode and heritage protection into focus.

The Église Sainte-Anne offers a different architectural accent: it was built in the 13th century in the Cistercian Romanesque style and is listed in the inventory of Monuments historiques. Its choir opens onto three chapels. The high altar holds relics of Saint Justin, Saint Maximin and Saint Anne. At the château, the layout, courtyard and history of the fortified house are defining themes; at Sainte-Anne, the church’s style, choir and relics take center stage.

Manoir de Moux and archaeological history

The Manoir de Moux is almost intact and has an approximately square ground plan, a tower with a pointed roof and mullioned windows. It stands on a natural rise near the former Chorey–Moux routes. Unlike the Château de Cussigny, with its central building, wings and courtyard, the Manoir is defined by its compact shape, tower and location.

Moux is also associated with archaeological history: a Roman villa was discovered there. The stele found in Moux, “God of the Birds,” also known as the “God of Moux,” is preserved intact at the Musée Archéologique de Dijon. The findspot and place of preservation are therefore clearly distinct: the discovery is associated with Moux, while the stele itself is kept in Dijon.

Voie des Vignes and planning with train and bicycle

Corgoloin railway station is part of the central section of the Voie des Vignes. This section also includes the stations at Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot-Gilly-les-Cîteaux and Nuits-Saint-Georges. This places Corgoloin within a specific stretch of the route without losing sight of the other stops.

Bicycles can be carried free of charge on the TER services mentioned. If you are considering combining train and bicycle for your trip, check the current timetable, the route and its conditions, and the applicable rules for carrying bicycles before you travel. The history of winegrowing, the varied buildings and the route connection each offer their own starting points for deciding what to focus on during a stay in Corgoloin.
