The Ille-et-Rance Canal in Saint-Grégoire is part of an 85-kilometre waterway linking Rennes, Dinan and Saint-Malo. Walks along former towpaths, kayaking opportunities, a Wednesday market, and swimming, sauna and cultural activities offer different ways to enjoy a stay in the town.
Canal, walks and kayaking
The Robinson site offers walks along the canal’s former towpaths. Kayaking is also possible there. At the Île de Robinson water sports centre, the municipal kayaking club offers paddling, sprint, polo and recreational activities; trips along the canal are also available. You can therefore make walks by the water or activities on the water the focus of your visit.
Several walking brochures suggest circular routes in Saint-Grégoire and three neighbouring municipalities. Another option is “Randonnée et découverte”: the programme includes full-day outings with a picnic each month. The brochure routes and full-day outings therefore offer different time commitments. As dates may change, check the latest information before planning an outing.
Swimming, sauna and exercise
The SPADIUM aquatic centre has a sports pool, a leisure pool, a water slide, a paddling pool and whirlpools. Spadium Zen offers Nordic and Japanese saunas as well as hammams. When planning your visit, you can choose between these options based on your interests: swimming and leisure pools on the one hand, saunas and hammams on the other.
Another way to get active is the CRAPA-VTT fitness trail at 31 Rue du Pressoir Godier. It is freely accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As access conditions may change, check them before your visit.
Market and culture
The Wednesday market takes place on Place Gilles Grallan and brings together around 30 traders and regional producers. Stalls offer fruit and vegetables, bread, fish and prepared foods. The market gives priority to local producers and promotes short supply chains; the range of traders may change.
Saint-Grégoire’s cultural service offers performances for children and adults throughout the year. Check the latest dates for individual performances. The Robinson Festival held its 30th edition in 2026: the event took place on 13 and 14 June 2026 and has already passed. Festambul is the amateur theatre festival organised by the Théâtre de la Gâterie association. For future dates, refer to current announcements.
Historical traces
The Manoir dit l’Auge de Pierre puis la Trinité retains part of its 17th-century residential building; part of the moat is also still visible. The estate is privately owned. If you are considering a visit, check access in advance.
The former parish church of Saint-Grégoire is thought to date from the 11th century. A watermill on the River Ille was built around 1875 to 1878. Together with the manor, these buildings offer glimpses into different periods of the town’s history; the church’s date remains explicitly tentative.
