Guignen offers a range of ways to enjoy your stay: historic buildings, a 15-kilometre route through the landscape and local heritage, and activities in everyday village life. You can plan your visit according to whether you are interested in architecture, nature, a bike ride or a visit to the market.

Church, Wash House and Oratory

The present-day church of Saint-Martin de Guignen is neo-Gothic; its construction took 25 years. Inside is a wooden image of Christ from the 17th century. The construction period and the age of this artwork represent two different historical aspects of the church. The La Massonière wash house is beside a stream, on the site of a former open-air washing place. Take care when leaving the circular route to head towards the wash house. The Ormeau oratory was built to preserve the memory of a former chapel and houses a statue of Saint Roch.

The “Entre nature et bâti” Circular Route

The VP3 “Entre nature et bâti” circular route is 15 kilometres long and suitable for road bikes or all-terrain bikes. It passes through the Canut Valley and the Bignon wetland, where there are two ponds that hold water year-round. The wetland is home to numerous newts, tree frogs, kingfishers and dragonflies; how easy the animals are to spot may vary by season. There are also old slate crosses along the roads on the route. The name of the route thus refers to the combination of landscapes and built heritage that you encounter along the way. Before setting off, check the route markers and ground conditions, as these can change.

Walks and a Break Outdoors

At “La ruée vers l’air” in Le Tertre Gerault, walks for adults are offered every day throughout the year. Check before visiting whether the activity is currently available. The “la Prairie” leisure area has a pond, a picnic area and a children’s playground. If you are planning to use these facilities for your break, you can check their availability on site; the play equipment may change over time.

Market and Médiathèque

Guignen market takes place every Wednesday morning. There is a galette and crêpe vendor there. As market times and vendor offerings may change, it is worth checking locally before your visit. The Médiathèque municipale de Guignen is open to everyone; you can spend time there without registering. Its collection includes 7,500 books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. Events are aimed at all ages and audiences. For children aged from zero to three, these include story and rhyme sessions, as well as activities to explore sounds and instruments. As the programme may change, it is best to check in advance which events are currently being offered.
