The Penhoat-Lancerf Forest, the banks of the Trieux and the Église Saint-Pierre give Plourivo three distinct themes: an extensive coastal forest landscape, nature experiences with different focuses, and sacred art. When choosing a route, its character is particularly interesting: one circular trail draws attention to the estuary, while the botanical trail focuses on wetland features and plant knowledge. The Maison de l'Estuaire also offers a program that includes exhibitions, hikes, performances and nature activities.
Forest and the banks of the Trieux
Penhoat-Lancerf Forest covers nearly 600 hectares and is now considered the most significant coastal forest in northern Brittany. Because of its remarkable habitats, the area is part of the Trégor-Goëlo Natura 2000 site. The scale of the forest massif and the protection of its habitats are thus defining features of the landscape.
Other natural features can be found along the Trieux: the riverbanks in Plourivo include mudflats and salt marshes with their characteristic flora. The two landscapes differ in concrete ways: Penhoat-Lancerf stands out as a coastal forest, while the estuary’s character is shaped by its wet riverbanks and plant life.
Trails between viewpoints and plant knowledge
The red circular trail offers remarkable views of the banks of the Trieux and a maritime landscape that is particularly impressive at high tide. How strongly this impression comes across also depends on the tide and weather. So if you are going specifically for the riverbank views, it is worth checking the tide level and weather conditions for your planned visit.
The Sentier botanique de Pont-Min has a different focus. The trail passes through a damp, shady sunken lane, a damp, steep-sided valley and a broadleaf forest, then crosses a plateau overlooking the valleys. Scientific signs explain the medicinal properties of the plants. Landscape features and plant knowledge are equally part of the trail’s character.

Maison de l'Estuaire and a walk
The Maison de l'Estuaire is located in Penhoat-Lancerf Forest, on the banks of the Trieux estuary, on land belonging to the Conservatoire du littoral. It offers exhibitions, hikes, performances and nature activities for children and adults; individual programs may vary.
The Maison also offers a 5-kilometer walk that takes approximately two hours. The availability of the guided program may vary. This time estimate therefore provides a specific reference for this walk only, not for the other trails in Plourivo.
Sacred art in the Église Saint-Pierre
The Église Saint-Pierre in Plourivo contains two 15th-century tomb effigies with carved coats of arms. Both objects are classified as protected movable cultural heritage. The coats of arms and the dating give the tomb effigies a clear historical context.
The church also contains a carved, polychrome-painted wooden statue of Saint Nicodemus. Together, the works showcase different details of sacred art: the tomb effigies with their coats of arms and the painted wooden figure depicting a saint.
The Maison de l'Estuaire walk adds to this selection with an approximate duration of two hours over five kilometers.
