In Ploubezre, you can explore historic architecture and marked trails in the Léguer Valley as distinct highlights of your trip. The buildings tell the story of different periods and architectural styles, while the trails offer several ways to get around. This lets you plan your visit around whether you are mainly interested in architecture or outdoor activities.

Châteaux, gardens and historic buildings

The origins of the Château de Kergrist date back to the 15th century. The building was altered several times over the following centuries. The gardens also define the site: they include French, English, exotic and Japanese garden areas. Their composition may change over time. If the current layout is important to your visit, check it in advance. Another architectural landmark is the Château fort de Coat Frec, which has been listed as a Monument historique since 1927 for its architectural and historical significance. At the Manoir de Kerhervé, a fortified tower stands out as a distinctive architectural feature.

Architecture in chapels and churches

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Kerfons shows how different architectural styles can be found in different parts of a building. Its nave and northern chapel combine Flamboyant Gothic architecture; the southern transept features early Breton Renaissance architecture. This transept is dated to 1553–1559. The date therefore applies to a specific part of the building, not to the chapel as a whole. The chapel also has two permanent exhibitions: one covers the rood screens of Brittany on five panels, while the other documents the restoration work carried out in 2020 and 2021 with before-and-after photos. Check the exhibition details again before your trip.

The Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul can also be understood through its specific construction phases. Its reconstruction was probably completed in 1554; the bell tower was built in 1577. The church is open year-round from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. As opening hours may change, check them again before your trip.

The Chapelle Saint-Fiacre in Runfao dates from the first half of the 16th century. Its asymmetrical floor plan comprises a rectangular nave and northern side aisles with five bays. The five bays describe the layout of the side aisles, while the asymmetrical floor plan refers to the overall structure. Visitors can access the chapel by contacting the town hall in advance. Take this requirement into account when planning your visit.
