Langueux brings together several distinct reasons to stay: a circular walking trail, leisure activities at Parc du Grand Pré, and architectural and industrial history. The Grèves and the Bay of Saint-Brieuc add natural attractions. When planning your visit, you can choose different focuses: a longer walk, activities in the park, or a cultural and historical theme.

Walks, the Grèves and leisure

The “Langueux, les deux vallons” circular walking trail is 10.9 kilometres long and takes about two hours and 45 minutes. This approximate duration makes it easy to plan the route as a longer activity in its own right.

Parc du Grand Pré connects the centre of Langueux with the Grèves. The park has two play areas for all ages, a fitness area and a pump track. The play and exercise facilities therefore offer a distinct focus alongside the circular walking trail.

The Digue des Grèves is a place for walks and leisure activities. It also serves as a place to observe and interpret the marine and social life of the Grèves. A visit to the Digue is therefore about more than just exercise: the way of life of the Grèves is also in view here.

The Bay of Saint-Brieuc is designated as a nature reserve and a Natura 2000 site. Visitors interested in nature and landscapes will find a different experience here from the specific leisure activities at Parc du Grand Pré.

The Tramway de Boutdeville is another point of interest. Its circular route is 900 metres long, and around ten restored railway vehicles are on display on the site. The site is close to the GR 34 long-distance footpath. When planning your visit, you can therefore take into account the length of the tramway route, the railway exhibition and its proximity to this footpath as separate aspects.

Architectural history and industrial traces

The Viaduc de Douvenant has been listed as a historic monument since 2018. The Chapelle des Grèves offers a different point in time: its present-day building was constructed in 1837. It replaced a very old chapel referred to in 1602 as the Chapelle Saint-Léga or the Chapelle de la Trinité.

During the summer season, the Chapelle des Grèves hosts temporary exhibitions. Checking the dates of the exhibitions helps you plan a visit at the right time during the summer season.

The Chapelle de Saint-Ilan was built from 1848 onwards to plans by the architect Pelefresne. It is one of the first examples of neo-Gothic architecture in the département. Together with the architectural history of the Chapelle des Grèves, it offers another way to explore the architectural history of Langueux.

La Briqueterie brings together a museum on the history of Langueux and a museum about the railways of the Bay. The cultural offering thus extends from local history to railway history.

A further insight into industrial history can be found at the Boutdeville site of the former Société des Tuileries et Briqueteries de Saint-Ilan. The remains of an industrial Hoffmann kiln, probably dating from the last quarter of the 19th century, have been preserved there. The kiln probably dates from the last quarter of the 19th century.
