Langon offers different ways to plan a stay: churches and exhibitions on the one hand, a park by the river and a described cycling route on the other. The Friday market adds to the choice. You can focus on cultural history, changing exhibitions, outdoor activities or local produce.
On the banks of the Garonne
Parc des Vergers is located on the banks of the Garonne. Its listed facilities include a children's playground with a slide, a walking area, an open-air theatre and picnic tables. The different areas give the park several functions: you can spend time outdoors, take a break or keep the open-air theatre in mind as a separate activity.
As facilities may be renovated or changed, check before visiting whether the amenities that matter to you are available. The park is a separate point of interest by the river; the cycling route through the Graves vineyards should be treated as a separate outing.
Two churches, different stories
The history of Notre-Dame-du-Bourg dates back to the 12th century. The building was later converted into a meeting place, event venue and cinema. Today, the church's remains are a stop on the “Circuit découverte de Langon” (Langon Discovery Trail). Eight capitals from Notre-Dame-du-Bourg are on display at The Cloisters museum in New York. The capitals thus also provide a link to a museum outside Langon.
Construction of Saint-Gervais Church began in the 13th century and was completed in 1847. The church houses a Cavaillé-Coll organ dating from 1857 and Francisco de Zurbarán's painting “The Immaculate Conception.” Together with Notre-Dame-du-Bourg, Saint-Gervais offers another way to explore the city's history: here, the focus is on a long construction period and specific works and furnishings.
A route and its landmarks
The “Circuit découverte de Langon” (Langon Discovery Trail) begins at the Langon tourist information office. The trail provides access to Saint-Gervais Church via the former towpath along the Garonne and a metal staircase. The remains of Notre-Dame-du-Bourg are also among its stops. This information helps you place the named sites along a walking route; it does not specify a walking time or the condition of the path. Check route conditions before setting out.
Digital culture and exhibitions
The Micro-Folie Langon is a digital museum at the Centre culturel des Carmes. Admission is free. The collection comprises around 5,000 works and content from some 100 national and international institutions and museums. A virtual reality area adds immersive 360-degree content; individual items may change. This sets the Micro-Folie apart from the churches and exhibition venues: its focus is on digital collections and virtual experiences.
The Salle George Sand hosts an average of six exhibitions per year. Admission is free; admission arrangements may change. Photography exhibitions are held in the Hall des Carmes during the cultural season. Projects created by local school students as part of their schoolwork are also displayed there. Programmes and individual projects change, so each exhibition visit offers its own view of the current selection.
Cycle through the Graves
The Véloroute des Deux Mers is 7.88 kilometres long; the ride takes around 30 minutes, and the route is rated very easy. It passes through the Graves vineyards and along the Garonne. The route starts on Boulevard Salvador Allende and goes via Castets-et-Castillon to the Canal de Garonne. This offers a different perspective on the area from the church-focused walking route. Route conditions may change; check them before setting off.
Friday market and hotel search
For 2026, Langon's Friday market is listed as having around 130 regular traders and exhibitors, as well as local produce; check market details and opening hours before travelling. The market extends across the town centre.
Then tailor your search to your travel plans and compare the specific accommodation details. This helps you choose a hotel that fits the visits you actually intend to make.
