Rouffignac-De-Sigoulès offers travellers several clear highlights: a circular route, wine tastings and activities on horseback. When planning, you can first decide whether scenery and exercise, wine or horse-riding activities should shape your stay.

The circular route through vineyards and village

The Boucle de Rouffignac de Sigoulès starts at the municipal car park opposite the town hall. It passes through the Bergerac and Monbazillac vineyards, leads to the village church of Rouffignac-de-Sigoulès and includes Château de Bridoire. The route can be travelled on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. It therefore combines a wine-growing landscape with named destinations, while leaving the choice of how to get around up to you. If you would like to combine an active outing with scenic and cultural elements, you can consider this circular route as a starting point.

A historical feature along the route

Château de Bridoire is a privately owned medieval castle dating from the 15th century. The protected Domaine du Château de Bridoire includes land in Rouffignac-de-Sigoulès. Along with the vineyards, the castle and village church provide two specific cultural points of interest on the Boucle. If you would like to include historic places in your travel plans, these named destinations offer alternatives to the route’s scenic focus.

Wine tastings and biodiversity

Château La Robertie is farmed organically. At tastings, visitors can sample Bergerac wines in dry, rosé, red and sweet styles, as well as Monbazillac wines. Guided tours are available by prior appointment. Tastings and tours are therefore two distinct ways to visit; if you want a guided tour, making an appointment is part of the planning.

Château Le Terme Blanc offers a different focus. Its vineyard covers 24 hectares, and the château has the Monbazillac appellation. Visitors can also discover the local biodiversity there. The area figure gives a tangible sense of the scale of wine production, while biodiversity offers another aspect of the natural environment. Comparing the two châteaux, tastings and guided tours are at the heart of La Robertie, while Le Terme Blanc combines vineyard area, appellation and the chance to discover biodiversity.

Horse riding on the Boucle and at La Jumenterie

If you want to ride, you can choose between two formats: the Boucle can be travelled on horseback, while the La Jumenterie riding centre offers trail rides, riding lessons, and day and week-long courses without overnight accommodation. The centre welcomes children and adults aged four and over. The riding centre’s activities therefore go beyond using a route and also include lessons and course formats. As the courses do not include overnight accommodation, you can plan your riding activities separately from your accommodation.

For travel planning, it is also useful to distinguish between the circular route and activities that require an appointment: the Boucle is a route, while guided tours at Château La Robertie require an appointment in advance. La Jumenterie’s courses are described as day or week-long formats without overnight accommodation. This lets you choose activities based on their format and shape your stay around the things that interest you most.
