The local cultural heritage includes the Minzac baptismal font, which is housed in the museum in Villefranche-de-Lonchat, as well as the Fontaine Sainte Marie-Madeleine des Brandes. The options range from outdoor activities and motorsport to wine and local heritage.

Hiking and Motorsport

The hiking route “Minzac, à cheval sur deux versants!” is rated easy, is 4 km long and has an estimated duration of 1 hour and 10 minutes. The route was updated in December 2025; details may change. So check the route before setting out. The Circuit de Poursuite sur Terre is a track for car, motorcycle and motocross sports. Check its current operating status before visiting. The hike, with its estimated duration, gives you a clear outline for planning your day; a possible visit to the circuit depends on its current operating conditions.

Winegrowing and a Visit to Château La Plante

Château La Plante is situated on a slope cultivated by Benedictine monks from the 12th to the 16th century. The estate produces red and rosé wines, as well as sweet white Bergerac wine and Montagne St Emilion.

Tours and direct sales are available year-round from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Visits in 2026 are by appointment; arrange your visit before you travel.

Historic Sites and Access

The Minzac baptismal font dates from the 12th century and has been protected as a movable historic monument since 27 December 1947. It is housed in the museum in Villefranche-de-Lonchat. If you would like to see it there, check in advance to confirm whether it is currently on display.

The Fontaine Sainte Marie-Madeleine des Brandes comprises a square basin and a water-filled pond. From the chapel, an access route passes through an underpass beneath the motorway. The fountain is easier to reach from a grassy platform near the signpost for the road to the chapel. As access conditions may change, check the situation on site. The fountain is also connected to the Way of St James via the Vézelay route. Check the current signage and route before setting out.

Pilgrimage and a Traditional Custom

The pilgrimage to Sainte Marie-Madeleine at Madeleine-des-Brandes near Moulin-Neuf was held annually. The faithful gathered to pray in the Landais forest between Moulin-Neuf and Minzac. If you are looking for a current date, ask locally about the latest arrangements.

A custom documented in 1927 held that young women rang the bell all day on 24 July during the pilgrimage to the chapel of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine des Brandes. According to the belief passed down through generations, this would ensure they married within a year.
