Labouquerie can be explored through three distinct experiences: award-winning contemporary architecture, a historic church, and farm visits with tastings. There is also the 27-kilometre Boucle du Dolmen blanc de Labouquerie. For planning your trip, this combination is more useful than a single list of attractions: you can focus on architectural history, a longer circular route, or agriculture and seasonal processing.

Architecture between Maison Verdier and the Church

Maison Verdier was built in 1973 by architect Bernard Saillol and has been awarded the “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” distinction. Its cruciform floor plan is surrounded by an almond-shaped enclosure of dry-stone walls; the complex includes four courtyards.

These features go together when considering the architecture: the floor plan describes the interior shape, the dry-stone walls form the surrounding enclosure, and the four courtyards are additional elements of the complex. As well as its construction date and the architect’s name, Labouquerie therefore offers a concrete reason to explore spatial design.

The Eglise de Labouquerie is a Romanesque church dating from the 15th century. The rectory is attached to it, and a cemetery surrounds it. Its style, century and architectural setting make it a different subject from Maison Verdier: here, the focus is on the church, rectory and cemetery, rather than the floor plan, dry-stone walls and courtyards. These different buildings give culture enthusiasts two clearly defined perspectives on the place.

There is a clear contrast in age: the Eglise de Labouquerie dates from the 15th century, while Maison Verdier was built in 1973. This makes it possible to view the local architecture from two different perspectives—as a Romanesque church with its architectural surroundings or as an award-winning house with a cruciform floor plan and courtyards.

Near the church is the Aire de pique-nique à Labouquerie, with two shaded tables. This provides a specific place to take a break near the church and can be included in your day’s plans.

Circular Route and Farm Visits

The Boucle du Dolmen blanc de Labouquerie is a 27 km circular route. At this length, it is an activity in its own right and gives you a clearly defined route to factor into your trip plans. Check local conditions before setting out.

Les Vergers du Petit Brassac in Labouquerie offers tours of its duck and plum farm and orchards. Tastings are part of the visitor experience. The programme thus combines a farm and orchards with a tasting, offering a distinct focus alongside architecture and the circular route.

During the season, visitors can also tour the washing, sorting and drying facility. This seasonal availability makes the facility a separate planning consideration: if this processing is of particular interest to you, check in advance whether a visit falls within your travel dates.

The activities also differ in how they need to be planned: the circular route is defined by its length; the farm visit includes a tour and tasting, while the facility can be visited seasonally. You can therefore decide whether to focus on a circular route, architectural history, or a visit offering insights into the farm and orchards.
