The artesian Puits de Bontemps, the Blâme and circular walks with clearly different route lengths offer distinct focal points for a stay in Brouchaud. There is also a church associated with a Cnap-located object, as well as country cooking at Ferme auberge du Vieux Chêne. This makes it easy to plan your visit around the themes that matter most to you: water, outdoor activities, culture or regional specialities. If you’re looking for exercise, you can compare route lengths first; if food or culture is important to you, there are specific local points of interest for those, too.

Water and local landmarks

The Blâme flows through Brouchaud and rises there. The artesian well Puits de Bontemps is 1.5 km south of Brouchaud, beside the RD 68. After heavy rainfall, underground water may bubble over its rim. Whether this phenomenon occurs therefore depends on rainfall. The water features also differ in location: the Blâme runs through the village, while the well lies to the south.

Circular walks by length and direction

For walks, there are three easy circular routes through nature, all starting in Brouchaud. The Boucle des Lichens is 1 km long, the Boucle des fougères is 3.5 km, and the Boucle des genevriers is 8 km. The Lichens is the shortest loop, the genevriers the longest, and the fougères is in between. You can choose a route to suit the distance you’d like to cover.

The Boucle des genevriers starts from the town hall square, initially heading right through Brouchaud and, at the edge of the village, towards Limeyrat; the same directions apply to the Boucle des fougères. The Boucle des Lichens starts from the town hall square, heading left; after a few dozen metres, a small road leads towards La Peyrade. The Boucle des orchidées also initially heads right through Brouchaud and, at the edge of the village, along the RD towards the hamlet of La Meysselie. Conditions on the three circular walks described here may change; check them before setting out.

Church, cuisine and visits

Église Saint-Pierre-es-liens in Brouchaud is associated with a Cnap-located object. Ferme auberge du Vieux Chêne in Brouchaud serves farm-produced local specialities and regional dishes. These include Anchaud, duck breast stuffed with porcini mushrooms, confit, walnut cake and flambéed omelette. As dishes may change, it is worth checking the current selection before your visit; also confirm opening arrangements.

The Ferme auberge offers visits to truffle groves and bories on request. Bories are huts roofed with stone slabs. It is advisable to arrange these visits in advance.
