Beleymas can be explored through a variety of nature and cultural themes: one trail passes through woodland and offers views of the village and the Crempse valley, while another is a ten-kilometre circular route. There is also a marsh and wetland, historic sites in Beleymas and Lagudal, and insights into local culture and agriculture. You can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you want to enjoy nature, history, or a combination of both.

Woodland, Views and Wetland

The Sentier PR de Beleymas begins at the car park by the church and village hall. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the village and the Crempse valley. Its woodland section passes through stands of tree species and plants typical of the region. Deer and wild boar may also be spotted there. The trail thus combines views of the landscape with woodland and the chance to see native wildlife.

The Tourbière du Laquin offers a different natural setting: a six-hectare marsh and wetland in Beleymas. Round-leaved sundew, cotton grass and peat mosses grow there. While the Sentier PR is characterised by its views and woodland, the Tourbière centres on the wetland habitat and its plants. These distinct natural features give you a concrete basis for deciding how to prioritise your interests for the trip.

Trails with Different Focuses

The Sentier des 10 000 ans is a ten-kilometre circular route between Beleymas and Issac. Two films are incorporated into the digital route and information panels; a totem explores the route of the 45th parallel. The route thus combines a clearly stated distance with digital content and information along the way. The Sentier des 10 000 ans is one of the nature trails that opened on 4 September 2024 and was made available on the Dorie app.

Another cycling option is the Opération Corsican, a circular route through the Landais. It explains the context and events of the parachute drop at Lagudal. When the route was presented in 2024, digital tracking via the Dorie app was also part of the offer. The two routes therefore differ in their stated features: the Sentier des 10 000 ans focuses on the circular route, films and the 45th parallel, while the Opération Corsican is a cycling route through the Landais that explores the history of Lagudal.

Church, Architectural History and Remembrance

The church in Beleymas houses a 17th-century Baroque altarpiece, listed in the supplementary register of historic monuments. The bell tower gable of Église Saint-Martin also dates from the 17th century. Remains of a sanctuary dedicated to Belisama were found 1.5 metres below ground in front of the entrance to the church in Beleymas. These specific details offer several points of reference for the history of the village, from a historic furnishing to discoveries made in front of the church.

The former notary's house dates from the 17th century and was modernised and extended in the 18th century; it also includes a medieval section. The building is privately owned, but its façade can be viewed from the Route des Vélugies. The former railway station can also be seen in Lagudal. At these historic sites, it is helpful to distinguish between what is visible from outside and the building's history: the notary's house façade can be viewed from the route, while its earlier construction phases provide historical context.

A stele in Lagudal commemorates the first clandestine parachute drop of people and weapons in France. The local Resistance organised it on the night of 10 to 11 October 1941. The memorial anchors the site's history to a precisely dated event and makes Lagudal interesting for travellers who want to learn about the Resistance.

Local Produce and Culture

The produce from Ferme du Séchoir is organically grown and gathered from the wild. You can sample it at the restaurant on site. In 2026, Ferme du Séchoir welcomes visitors by appointment from Monday to Saturday; arrange your visit before travelling. This means that both the origin of the produce and the visiting requirements are part of your planning.

La Muse et Moi is an artists' collective and creative lab founded in 2014 in rural Beleymas and the surrounding area. It develops creative projects, workshops in artistic practice, exhibitions, performances and open-mic events. If you would like to include cultural events in your trip, check the dates and public access arrangements for each event. In this way, nature trails, historic sites, regional produce and time-specific cultural events offer different themes for a stay in Beleymas.
