Soultzeren brings together landscapes, outdoor activities, and local history. If you are looking for accommodation in Soultzeren, you can first decide which of these themes you want to shape your stay: the lakes and their varied landscapes, a hike or climbing routes at Le Tanet, the history of the Protestant church, or a visit to the Chèvrerie du Londenbach.

Lac Vert and Lac du Forlet

Lac Vert is part of the Soultzeren area. It lies on the Tanet massif at an altitude of 1,053 metres and is easy to reach; you can park nearby. Its elevation and accessibility provide two practical points of reference when including nature in your travel plans.

Lac du Forlet, also known as Lac des Truites, lies in a former glacial cirque with steep rock faces. The Gazon du Faing nature reserve is nearby. The two lakes therefore represent different aspects of the landscape: the key features of Lac Vert are its elevation and easy access, while the cirque, rock faces, and proximity to the nature reserve define the setting of Lac du Forlet.

Hiking and Climbing at Le Tanet

The “Les Deux Lacs” circular hiking trail provides a clearly identified route to help you plan. From Münster, follow the D417 towards Col de la Schlucht and turn off towards Le Tanet about five kilometres past Soultzeren. The trail passes the Ferme du Gaerstlesrain. Further uphill on the left is the Club Vosgien’s Chalet Erichson, which is open to everyone. The starting point, road, turn-off, and waypoints provide several points of reference for navigating the route.

The natural climbing area at Le Tanet is another attraction in its own right. It is equipped and has routes graded from 3c to 6b. The climbing area can be reached via the D417 towards Tanet; it is a ten-minute walk from the Ferme-Auberge Seestaedlé car park. Allow for this walking time from the car park, and check access conditions and local restrictions before setting off.

Church History and the Chèvrerie

Soultzeren’s Protestant church was built in 1782 to replace a wooden building. It was partially destroyed by the bombardments of 1915. The new Protestant church was inaugurated on 16 December 1923. This sequence of construction, destruction, and inauguration gives the town’s history a clear timeline and complements its nature and activity themes with a cultural focus.

At the Chèvrerie du Londenbach, visitors can take tours and watch goats being milked. Check the current visiting arrangements before your visit. The Chèvrerie also sells organic goat cheese made on the farm from raw milk. Product availability may change, so ask in advance about the current selection if you are interested.
