When looking for a hotel in Bantzenheim, two specific interests may help you decide: motorcycle and local history, or cycling on named routes. La Grange à Bécanes and the town’s historical landmarks form one focus; three cycling routes offer another. To plan your stay, you can first weigh whether cultural sites or route distances are more important to you.

Motorcycle history at La Grange à Bécanes

La Grange à Bécanes showcases 90 exceptional historic motorcycles that were ridden on European roads up to the 1960s. In the interactive area, visitors can sit on a historic motorcycle. The depot and workshop are also open to the public, displaying motorcycles and collectors’ items. Check the latest information on opening hours and access before your visit, as visitor details may change.

Local history and orientation

The town’s history spans several periods. The nave of the Saint-Michel parish church dates back to 1780. Bantzenheim is located along the former Roman Rhine road. Stabula, a former Roman station, lies on the intercommunal boundary between Bantzenheim and Ottmarsheim. The year 1780 dates the church nave; the road and station are the Roman landmarks. West of the town centre, the Hardt irrigation canal provides another geographic point of reference.

Cycling routes and distances

EuroVelo 15 – Véloroute Rhin passes through Bantzenheim and connects Andermatt in Switzerland with Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands. Two other routes also pass through the town: the Parcours de la Forêt Domaniale de la Hardt is 62 km long, and the Les écluses du Rhin – Nord cycling route is 37 km long. The Parcours is therefore 25 km longer. A detour through the Forêt de la Hardt is also possible on Les écluses du Rhin – Nord. Route conditions may change for EuroVelo 15 and the Parcours de la Forêt Domaniale de la Hardt; check the latest route information before setting off.

Getting to the museum by public transport

La Grange à Bécanes can be reached by public transport from Gare de Mulhouse. Bus 68R055 towards Nambsheim goes to the Bantzenheim Eglise stop. Bus 58 towards Bantzenheim Nord also goes to this stop. Another option is to take the TER towards Müllheim to Bantzenheim; there, change to bus 68R055 towards Nambsheim and travel to Bantzenheim Eglise. This lets you compare two bus services to the same stop with the TER-and-bus connection. Check the latest timetables and stop information before travelling.
