Rœschwoog offers several distinct ways to enjoy a stay: EuroVelo 15 passes through the commune, two easy walking routes differ in length and duration, and a moderately difficult circular route follows the Moder. The Roselière, the public sandy beach at Staedly and the village’s history add natural and cultural attractions. When planning, you can weigh up the cycling route, shorter walks and a longer hike.

Cycling route, train station and bicycles

EuroVelo 15, also known as the Rhine Cycle Route, passes through Rœschwoog. The train station is on the Strasbourg–Lauterbourg TER line and has bicycle parking. The Weckmann et la Moder circular route also starts at the station. This makes the station a useful landmark both for planning your train journey and as the starting point for the longer walking route. If you plan to travel by train, check the timetable for your travel dates.

Walks with different time requirements

The Trame Verte starts on Route de l’étang. This easy walk is about one kilometre long and takes around 15 minutes. The Rœschwoog Botanical Educational Trail starts behind the André-Weckmann School; it is also easy, measures 1.5 kilometres and takes about 45 minutes. By comparison, the Trame Verte is the shorter option and takes less time; the educational trail adds around half an hour of walking.

The Weckmann et la Moder circular route starts at the train station, is 15.5 kilometres long and is described as moderately difficult. It follows the Moder through meadows, fields, groves, ponds and cultivated land. Alongside the two short, easy walks, this offers a longer route of moderate difficulty. The different distances and difficulty levels help you choose a route to suit the time and activity level you want.

Protected nature and beach

The Roselière, a protected biotope and part of the protected Natura 2000 site, lies north of Rœschwoog. There is a public sandy beach at the Staedly bathing area. Lifeguards supervise it seasonally at specific times. If the beach is important to your plans, check when supervision is scheduled before your visit. This will help you take the seasonal restriction into account when planning your day.

Church, chapel and Maginot Line

The present-day Saint-Barthélemy church building was erected in 1767. The church organ, made by Michel Stiehr, is classified as a historic monument. A chapel dating from the mid-16th century stands directly beside the church. The keystone of its Gothic vault bears the coat of arms of the lords of Fleckenstein-Dagstuhl. The church and chapel bring together different historical details: the construction date of the present-day building, a protected organ and a Gothic vault bearing a coat of arms. Two casemates of the Maginot Line are also visible in Rœschwoog. Alongside the history of religious architecture and music, they add another cultural-historical focal point.
