Lingolsheim can be explored through several distinct cultural themes: artistic practice and performances, a media and events offering, and the history of the tanning industry. Historic sites of remembrance add to these themes. Depending on whether you are interested in current programming, specific media offerings, or industrial and military history, you will find different ways to shape your stay.

Cultural offerings: performances, classes, and media

The Maison des Arts in Lingolsheim is a space for artistic practice and training, as well as a venue for events. Its cultural season is aimed at children and young people. The program includes theater, dance, and storytelling performances, as well as weekly workshops in artistic practice, classes, and occasional discovery workshops. This means performances and hands-on artistic practice offer distinct ways to take part: when planning, you can decide whether you are more interested in a stage performance or a class. The specific program changes from season to season, so check the current dates when planning a visit.

The Médiathèque Gisèle Halimi offers a different focus. Its collection currently comprises 63,000 items available for loan, including books for children and adults, films and TV series, CDs, and magazines. The collection size may change over time. Activities take place here regularly throughout the year, including a book club, video game tournaments, the Nuit de la lecture, performances, and workshops. In this way, the Médiathèque, with its media collection and year-round activities, differs from the Maison des Arts’ seasonally oriented cultural program.

Tanning history and historic sites

Renovated industrial buildings in Parc des Tanneries still bear witness to the former tanning industry, which came to a definitive end in 2005. Another historic landmark is the Adler-Oppenheimer tannery: it had been based in Lingolsheim since the late 1880s and was one of the largest facilities in Europe. These references complement one another: the park is about surviving architectural evidence, while Adler-Oppenheimer represents the historical significance of a single business.

Ouvrage Joffre-Lefebvre is part of the Ceinture des forts de Strasbourg, established in the 19th century. It represents the region’s military history, particularly during the German Empire and the First World War, and is named after Generals Joseph Joffre and Louis Lefebvre. The interior is accessible only as part of guided tours; access arrangements may change. Therefore, check current visiting options before planning a tour.

Lingolsheim’s synagogue is also part of the town’s historic heritage. It adds another perspective on Lingolsheim’s past to the history of industry.

Leisure and connections with the region

According to the municipal regulation published on October 22, 2020, Lingolsheim’s skatepark is open for free and is unsupervised. It is intended exclusively for skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes, and kick scooters. Check the applicable access rules before visiting, as the regulation may change.

For trip planning, CTS Line B connects Lingolsheim with Ostwald, Strasbourg, Schiltigheim, and Hœnheim. If you plan to use the line, check the current timetable: the route and service may change.
