A half-timbered house by the stream, a half-timbered farmstead with a large gate and the 9 km Vitaboucle No. 17 reflect different sides of Lampertheim. The town also offers historical connections, municipal cultural activities and rail access via neighboring communities. You can tailor your stay to specific interests: local history, architectural heritage, cultural events or a route with a stated distance each offer a different focus.

Local history from the town’s name to 1678

In 800, Lampertheim appears under the name Lancpartehim as part of the estates of Nordau. In 1190, part of the area that is now the municipality was incorporated into Honau Abbey. Agnès de Lampertheim was abbess of Königsbruck Monastery. In 1678, Marshal Créqui had Lampertheim burned down on the orders of Louis XIV.

Neolithic remains were discovered at the Bornecker site near Michelsberg. Finds from the same area also point to settlement in Roman times. These traces date back further than the name recorded in 800 and add an archaeological perspective to the town’s history.

Half-timbered farmsteads and art

Half-timbering is a construction method with a load-bearing timber frame and infilled wall panels. The farmstead “13 - ’s Wàners” at 13 Rue de l'église is a half-timbered house by the stream. “14 - ’s Meebse” at 14 Rue de Mundolsheim is a half-timbered farmstead, recognizable by its large gate. The two houses share the half-timbered construction style, but differ in their individual form and defining feature.

A single work of art is another cultural landmark: Leo Schnug’s “Der von Tierstein” is located in the stairwell of Lampertheim Town Hall.

Cultural activities and events

The Mille et une Pages media library is open to everyone. Its year-round program includes events, workshops, performances and exhibitions. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular event, check the current program in advance.
