Uderna offers a protected manor park, a hiking trail in the Elva River valley and a variety of activities side by side. Three differences are especially useful when planning: the route lengths, the season for each activity and whether equipment rental must be booked in advance. This lets you tailor your stay to your interests without having to combine the different activities into a fixed programme.

Hiking trails and landscape

Uderna Manor Park is a protected park covering 3.9 hectares. It is classified as an architectural monument from the 19th century. The park and the hiking trail offer different ways to experience the surroundings: one is a clearly defined cultural and landscape site, while the other follows a longer route through the river valley.

The 15-kilometre hiking trail in the Elva River valley is located in the village of Uderna. Along the way, there are views of several lakes, streams and sandstone outcrops. Its length sets it apart from the shorter activity trails at the Tartumaa Tervisespordikeskus, where routes of 1.5, 3 and 6 kilometres are available year-round. The distances make it possible to compare the length of the routes, but do not indicate how difficult they are.

Activities in different seasons

At the Tartumaa Tervisespordikeskus in Uderna, trails, bike rental and winter sports complement one another. Mountain bikes and fat bikes are available to rent year-round. Mountain bikes and kick scooters can be rented for a few hours or for a day. As rental details may change, it is advisable to check the centre’s current information before planning a rental. During the winter season, the ski trails are directly accessible from the centre.

There is also a specific option for disc golf: the centre’s park has a nine-basket course suitable for both beginners and experienced players. Disc golf discs can be borrowed from the main building during opening hours. If you would rather choose based on the type of activity, you could also consider archery. The Vibu metsarada forest archery trail is 2.5 kilometres long and has 14 targets.

At the Tartumaa Tervisespordikeskus archery range, visitors can learn the basics and try out equipment under the guidance of an instructor before taking the field course. Rental of weapons and archery equipment at the centre must be booked at least one day before use. These activities therefore also differ in terms of preparation: rental requires advance notice, while disc golf discs can be borrowed from the main building during opening hours.

Other shooting activities depend on the season and location. During the summer season, the centre has a 25-metre shooting range with 24 lanes for pistols and service weapons. Target shooting with virtual weapons and air guns takes place in the main building year-round. The summer-season range and the year-round indoor activity therefore differ both in timing and in the type of shooting.

Uderna’s cultural history

In addition to the manor park, Uderna’s cultural history can also be seen in the settlement sites of the historic village. There are two such sites, one of which is under state protection. Both are now located within the territory of Kalme village. This present-day designation is useful for orientation when placing Uderna’s historical connections in context.

For seasonal activities, it is worth checking the relevant periods: direct access to the ski trails is available during the winter season, while the 25-metre shooting range is open during the summer season. This can help you match your search for a hotel to the focus of your trip.
