Rappel's history can be explored through distinctive cultural and historical details. The Freedom Monument commemorates 142 men from the Rapla parish who fell in the First World War and the Estonian War of Independence. The stone bridge in Rapla is listed as a monument; it measures 27.5 metres long and 8 metres wide. The monument and the bridge offer different historical perspectives: commemoration on the one hand, and a specific structure on the other.

Church architecture and older buildings

Rapla Maarja-Magdaleena Church is Estonia's only rural church with two towers. The present building was designed by Baltic German architect Rudolf von Engelhardt. The pulpit and altar were made in the workshops of Christian Ackermann and Quirinnius Rabe; the church also houses an organ by the Kriisa brothers. Ring crosses dating from the 17th century can be seen in the churchyard. This church brings together a distinctive tower design, attributed furnishings and older grave markers.

The parsonage offers another link to the past: it is considered the city's oldest known building and was built in the last quarter of the 18th century. Rapla Cultural Centre represents a different type of building. It is a rural community hall that has largely retained its authenticity and features Expressionist architecture. Together, the church, parsonage and cultural centre illustrate different facets of Rappel's architectural history.

Art, music and remembrance

Rütmani Gallery has been operating in the centre of Rapla since 2006; Trepigalerii opened in March 2022. The walls of Susi Studio tell the story of Rapla's popular music and the biography of Tõnu Susi. These places offer different cultural points of interest: a gallery, a newly opened exhibition space and the town's music history.

The Raplamaa Memory Centre offers another perspective on the history of Raplamaa. It began operating at Rapla Central Library in early April 2022 and digitises materials connected with the region's history, particularly paper documents and photographs. While Susi Studio focuses on popular music and a biography, the Memory Centre focuses on digitising historical materials.

Walks and events

Rapla's river promenade runs between the Vigala River and the church park and is ideal for a peaceful stroll. A shorter route of about 1.5 kilometres is also available for the cultural and historical guided tour along the promenade. If you plan to take this particular guided tour, check in advance whether it is being offered.

The Tammemäe singing stage in Rapla hosts concerts, theatre performances, and singing and dance festivals. The programme ranges from music and theatre to community singing and dancing events. The four-faced Linna-Pea statue is also part of local culture: it is cleaned every year.

As of 16 February 2026, the Vesiroosi health trail in Rapla's health park is described as 850 metres long. The Vesiroosi Disc Golf Park is listed with a 1,514-metre course, par 54, marked tee areas and a medium level of difficulty. These offer two different leisure options: a trail with a specified length and a course with additional playing details.
