Reiu combines a family-friendly beach with marked trails and a protected riverside landscape. When choosing accommodation, you can first consider whether beach time, outdoor activities or nature by the river will shape your stay. These different focuses offer practical guidance for planning your trip.

Beach Visits and Seasonal Views

The water at Reiu Beach is warm and shallow, making the beach especially suitable for families with children. An evening visit has its own appeal too: depending on the season, you can watch the sun set over the sea or behind the forest. The view therefore varies by season and offers two different vistas.

In summer, the beach is home to the small Reiuranna Café, nestled in the shade of the trees. The menu includes light meals and drinks, such as salads, pastries, grilled sandwiches and ice cream. As the café operates seasonally, it is best to check whether it is currently open before your visit, rather than making it a fixed part of your plans.

Trails and the Riverside Landscape

The Reiu–Raeküla trail network includes marked routes of three, five and ten kilometres. You can choose the distance to suit the length of your planned outing; the trails are suitable for walking, running and mountain biking. You can also access the network from Reiu Puhkekeskus.

In winter, the trail network has a floodlit, three-kilometre artificial-snow trail. It is designed for both classical and freestyle skiing. Its operation depends on snowmaking and seasonal conditions. This winter option therefore differs from the marked trails, which range from three to ten kilometres in length.

The protected area along the Reiu River also includes the village of Reiu. The habitat type “Rivers and streams” (3260), designated under Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC, is protected there. The Reiu River is navigable from its mouth to the railway bridge. If you are planning a trip on the water, check the applicable conditions and regulations, as both may vary.

Lotte Village and Remembrance in Reiu

Lotte Village offers more than 100 attractions. Its adventure park is located in a pine forest and features several courses, including a climbing spider’s web, a zip line and a basket that is pulled up a tree. The “Lottemaa” bus stop is right by the new four-lane road; new footpaths and cycle paths lead directly to the entrance on both sides. If you are planning to travel by bus, check the timetable before setting out.

Reiu is also home to a mass grave of victims of terror, with two memorial markers. One is a monument erected in 1967. This site adds a place of historical remembrance to the nature and beach attractions.
