Boderne lies on Bornholm’s south coast, roughly halfway between Dueodde and Rønne. The beach, harbor and hiking trails give the village a range of distinct attractions. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can start by considering whether the coastal landscape, the harbor’s history or a longer hike will shape your stay.

Sandy Beach and Coastal Landscape

The narrow sandy beach runs along a steep, grassy dune shoreline that curves around a long bay. If the landscape is a key factor in choosing where to stay, these features can serve as a practical guide.

Important Information About the Beach

A military training area begins at the end of Boderne Beach. The area is closed while in use and is used only rarely during the season. Look out for notices about current restrictions when you are there. This lets you plan your time at the beach while keeping the area’s seasonal use in mind.

Harbor and Cottage Settlement

Boderne Harbor is home port to about 45 local dinghies and recreational boats. A picturesque cottage settlement lies by the harbor, built into the steep coastal slope. Its location and construction tell the story of the harbor; the harbor and settlement can therefore be viewed together as a glimpse into Boderne’s past.

For practical convenience, Boderne has a parking lot, toilets and an ice cream kiosk. Check whether they are currently open before your visit if these facilities are important to your plans.

Hiking Trails Connected to Boderne

Boderne is the western endpoint of the sixth stage of the Kyststien coastal trail, from Snogebæk to Boderne. This section is about 20 kilometers long, takes 5–6 hours and is considered easy to moderate. The stage extends beyond the immediate village area; the stated distance and duration apply to this section of the Kyststien.

The marked Læsåstien follows the Læså River for about 20 kilometers, from its mouth at Boderne to its source at Bastemose in Almindingen Forest. The two trails are therefore roughly the same length, but differ in route and endpoints: the Kyststien connects Snogebæk with Boderne, while the Læsåstien follows the river from its mouth to its source. Conditions on the ground can change, so check current trail information before setting out.

More Things to Explore on Bornholm

If you would like to explore other sides of Bornholm in addition to Boderne, the island offers cultural and scenic alternatives. At the NaturBornholm experience center, you can see dinosaurs, live crocodiles, an aquarium and a bison exhibit; the exhibitions may change over time. Bornholms Middelaldercenter is a 15-hectare open-air museum that presents Bornholm in the 14th century in an engaging, interactive way. For a different kind of landscape, visit Ekkodalen in Almindingen, Bornholm’s largest rift valley. These examples complement Boderne’s coastal focus with other themes without presenting them as features of the village itself.
