Tučapy can be explored from two perspectives: the former uses of its buildings tell the story of the village, while the surrounding area offers a nature trail, a viewpoint and a cycling route. Part of today's inn once served as the municipal office; a neighbouring building was first a school and later also an office. This gives you a choice of different focuses when planning your visit: architectural history in the village, a hike along the Naučná stezka Luleč or a cycling route through several named places.

Local History in the Buildings

The original old municipal office was located in the right-hand half of today's “Pod lípou” inn. The coat of arms of the Olomouc bishopric is still displayed on a wall of the inn. This brings together a former municipal function and a surviving coat of arms in one place—two distinct clues to the inn's history.

The building next to the original old municipal office housed a school from 1869. After the new school was built, it became the municipal office and still serves this function today. The new two-classroom school building was constructed between 1884 and 1886 and, after minor alterations, has served its purpose practically ever since. This comparison offers insight into the village's history: the function of one building changed, while the new school building has, in practice, retained its use to this day.

The bell tower originally had two bells as well. Jaroslav Kratochvíl was a historian and artist; he was born on 17 January 1885 in Tučapy near Vyškov in Moravia. His birth year falls within the construction period of the new two-classroom school building, from 1884 to 1886. This places a biographical date and a specific period in the building's history in the same timeframe.

Hiking, Views and Cycling

The Naučná stezka Luleč is located near Tučapy and features 22 information panels. The entire route takes no more than four hours on foot. Its panels combine exercise with information along the way; the maximum walking time provides a guide for planning the full hike. Check the route details before setting out, as they may change.

A viewpoint near the trail offers views of Nemojany, Tučapy and Komořany. It complements the information panels with a wider perspective on three places. An official cycling route runs through Komořany, Tučapy and Nemojany, in that order. The planning considerations differ: for the walking route, the panels and maximum walking time are relevant; for the cycling route, it is the order of the places.

Inn and Meeting Place

The “Pod lípou” inn has a bar, around 60 seats and a garden. The Tučapy municipal library has rooms for small-group meetings. The two venues suit different occasions: the inn may be a good choice for a stop, while the library is suitable for a small gathering. As facilities and details of use may change, check in advance what matters for your visit.
