Nemojany can be explored through several specific highlights: walks and hikes in the Rakovecké údolí Nature Park, cycling route 5071, which passes through the village, and local buildings with a history. The Chobot pond and the historic mill estate also give a stay its own cultural and historical dimension. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether your trip will focus mainly on the outdoors, cycling, or the local sights.

Hiking, Views and Cycling

Today, Nemojany is a starting point for walks and hikes in the Rakovecké údolí Nature Park. Another viewpoint is located below the church on the hill. It faces mainly south. This offers different options for spending time outdoors: hikes in the nature park or a visit to a viewpoint with a southerly aspect.

Cycling route 5071 passes through Nemojany and is 32 kilometres long. Its length provides a useful reference for planning a cycling trip; it should not be confused with the short local distance to Chobot pond. Those who prefer to travel by bicycle will find a clearly identified cycling route as an alternative to focusing on hiking.

Chobot: Pond and Mill History

Chobot pond covers approximately 4.3 hectares and is associated with sport fishing. From the centre of the village, it is just under one kilometre away in the direction of Pístovice. Parking is available at the Nemojanský mlýn hotel. Information about accessibility, directions and parking was last updated in 2021; check these conditions before visiting and travelling there.

Visitors using wheelchairs can visit the pond with assistance; however, access to the water has not been adapted for them. This limitation should be taken into account when planning a visit. If accessibility is important for your visit, check the information, last updated in 2021, in advance.

The history of the village includes the Chobot mill, which was powered by water. The historic mill estate included a 3.24-hectare pond.

Religious Buildings and Traces of the Past

Boží muka is an important example of small-scale religious architecture in the Nemojany landscape. The historicist structure was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, or in the early 19th century. It stands outside the built-up area, on the road to Brno. Following an exemplary restoration in 2022, it won second place in 2023 in the Jihomoravský kraj competition for the best-restored cultural monument of 2022, in the small structures category.

The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk can also be dated precisely: it dates from 1855. A wayside shrine stands by the former Imperial Road in Nemojany. Together with Boží muka and the historic mill, the chapel offers a glimpse of different local architectural and historical themes, although these sights do not necessarily share the same origins or period.

Planning Your Stay

The Brno–Přerov railway line runs along the edge of Nemojany. When planning, it helps to keep the stated distances and route lengths distinct: cycling route 5071 is 32 kilometres long, while Chobot pond is just under one kilometre from the centre of the village in the direction of Pístovice. These are a cycling route and a local destination, each with its own scale. When looking for suitable accommodation, you can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you mainly want to hike, cycle, or explore Nemojany’s buildings and history.
