Nemochovice lies in a hollow in a hilly landscape, 10 km northeast of Bučovice and below Hradisko Hill. A red-marked trail leads from Nemochovice to the summit of Hradisko. The Church of St. Florian, a protected cultural monument with furnishings spanning several historical periods, is another attraction.
St. Florian: Building history and furnishings
The Church of St. Florian is Baroque at its core. Its late Renaissance columned high altar is attributed to Melchior Kuntze of Freiberg and was probably completed in 1605. The church also contains Baroque statues placed there secondarily: Ecce Homo, dating from 1769, and St. John of Nepomuk, dating from 1713. The marble cross in front of the church is part of the monument ensemble; it was restored in 2013. The Baroque core and late Renaissance altar thus belong to different stylistic periods, while the statues provide further dated elements of the furnishings.
Places of remembrance and local history
Nemochovice was honored as a partisan village on 30 April 1965. The Liberation Monument in the village was formally unveiled on 8 November 1980. The award and the monument represent different forms of local remembrance: one honors the community, while the other serves as a memorial. Together with the church’s earlier architectural history, they span a period from the church’s furnishings to the history of the 20th century.
Hiking trails with different starting points
The red-marked trail leads from Nemochovice to the summit of Hradisko and from there past the Zdravá Voda spring near Lhota to Švábenice. The yellow-marked Cesta partyzánského oddílu Olga, by contrast, starts in Brankovice and branches off at the southern edge of Nemochovice. It runs through the Orlovická vrchovina region to Morkovice-Slížany. The different starting points are a practical guide when choosing: the red trail starts in Nemochovice, while the yellow one starts in Brankovice; check the markings for both trails on site. Horse riding, sports and events
JK Farma Nemochovice is a community of riders, breeders, children and adults. Its invitation to take part is addressed to experienced riders as well as complete beginners. The Jezdecký den has been held annually in Nemochovice since 1981. The Nemochovice Volunteer Fire Brigade also organizes the traditional St. Bartholomew’s festival. The multi-purpose sports field can be used for tennis, floorball, small-sided football and volleyball; Nemochovice also has two table tennis tables. There is also a local cycling route. Alongside the hiking trails, cycling and several specifically named sports are therefore available as different activity options.
