Rudka brings together the “Naučná stezka Rudka” nature trail, traces of its fortress and mining history, and a historic bell tower in the center. This creates two distinct focuses for a stay: outdoor activity and landscape on the one hand, and cultural history on the other. If you choose Rudka as a place to stay, you can plan your visit around whichever of these themes you want to focus on.

Nature Trail and Landscape

The “Naučná stezka Rudka” nature trail was developed in two sections. The first section, with five stops from the municipal office to the source of the Bobrava, was created in June 2015. The second section, with the remaining five stops, was added in 2016. The nature trail therefore has ten stops in total. The stages help visitors find their way around: the first connects a named starting point with the source, while the second adds the remaining stops. This makes it possible to explore the nature trail as a destination in its own right, rather than treating it merely as a short addition to another visit.

Rudka lies in a valley on both banks of the Bobrava. The Bobrava rises in a forest near Rudka. Together, these details give the landscape a clear setting: the village lies by the water, while the watercourse begins in a nearby forest.

Activity Along the Health Trail

The “Stezka pro zdraví” health trail offers a different experience. A description from November 2022 lists fitness, balance, and climbing elements for adults, seniors, children, and young people. It also mentions a zip line, benches, waste bins, and information boards about the individual elements. Unlike the nature trail, which is divided into stops and development stages, this trail focuses on individual activity and information elements. The condition of the facilities may change; check before visiting.

Fortress, Mining, and Cultural History

Only remnants of the ramparts and walls of the former Hrádek fortress remain. The fortress was destroyed no later than during the Thirty Years’ War. Mining in the Prachová cadastral area offers a different historical perspective: silver was mined there in the Middle Ages, and iron ore continued to be extracted until the mid-19th century. The two topics differ both in their history and in their nature: the remains of a fallen fortress on the one hand, and the extraction of various raw materials over different periods on the other.

A historic bell tower stands in the center of Rudka. The birthplace of Josef Juran has also been designated a cultural monument in Rudka. These are two different forms of architectural heritage: a bell tower in the village center and a birthplace with protected monument status. A film provides another, more recent connection to cultural history: in the spring of 2002, scenes for the television series “Černí baroni” were filmed at a local inn in Rudka. Compared with the fortress and mining, this production belongs to a much later period in the village’s history.
