Most of the Rozdrojovické lesy forest is occupied by a game reserve where mouflon and fallow deer are kept. At the same time, the forest complex borders the built-up area of Rozdrojovice. A nature trail, a marked path to the Rozdrojovická studánka spring, local memorials and recurring festivals reveal different sides of the village. For planning purposes, these themes can be considered separately: trails lead into the surrounding area, the chapel and memorial point to local history, and the Hody mark seasonal occasions.

Forest Trails and Navigation

The “Vodní nádrž Brno, Brněnská přehrada jak ji neznáte II” nature trail runs through the Rozdrojovické lesy. From Rozdrojovice, hiking and cycling routes lead to the Brněnská přehrada reservoir, Veveří Castle, the pilgrimage site of U Tří křížů and Veverská Bítýška. Destinations range from the reservoir and castle to the pilgrimage site and the village of Veverská Bítýška. These routes appeal both to travelers setting out on foot and to cyclists. Check trail conditions before your trip.

The 5.7 km route “Od Rozdrojovic k tajným výhledům na hrad” (From Rozdrojovice to Secret Views of the Castle) starts and ends in Rozdrojovice. Along the way, the path descends from Spáleňák to a saddle, from which Veveří can be seen unobstructed by trees. Visibility depends on conditions. The route length is clear when choosing a trail, while the view of Veveří from the saddle depends on conditions.

A red-marked path leads to the Rozdrojovická studánka spring from the “Rozdrojovice, BUS” stop or trail junction, passing weekend cottages on its way into the valley. Here, the starting point and trail color provide orientation; by contrast, the 5.7 km route is defined by its start and end in Rozdrojovice and its length. Conditions on these routes can also change, so it is a good idea to check the latest conditions before setting out.

Chapel, Memorial and Festival Traditions

A memorial to the victims of the world wars stands in the park in the center of Rozdrojovice. The Rozdrojovická Chapel was built in 1826–1827 and is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. The memorial and chapel mark different historical and religious themes and provide tangible points of reference for local history.

Mladé Hody (Young People’s Hody) are held regularly in mid-May. A procession of couples in traditional dress makes its way through the village, with rosemary sprigs and wine on offer. In the evening, the Česká beseda and Moravská beseda dances are performed. Babské hody (Women’s Hody) are held regularly in September: women and girls in traditional dress process through the village, dancing takes place at the homes of the Stárky, and guests are offered light refreshments. This gives you a clear distinction when choosing your travel dates: mid-May and September feature different festival formats. If you would like to make one of the Hody the occasion for your stay, check the dates and program for that year in advance.

Local Beer Culture

The Rojc craft brewery in Rozdrojovice offers expert explanations of brewing bottom-fermented and top-fermented beers, as well as a tasting of at least six varieties straight from the tanks. The experience combines insights into different brewing methods with a tasting and is particularly interesting if you are interested in beer. If you plan to take part, check the booking details in advance; they may change.
