There are three perspectives to consider when planning a stay in Rohozec: the historic village layout, the varied landscapes and the marked cycling and hiking routes. Their locations can help you distinguish between the topics as you make your own plans.

Village History and Chapel

Rohozec was established through medieval colonisation as a circular village, with former farmsteads arranged around the village green. The village’s character is therefore shaped not only by a single building, but also by the arrangement of the farmsteads around the green. If you are interested in historic settlement patterns, this layout offers a distinct way to explore the village’s history.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, built in 1861, stands in the historic centre. Its three-tiered tower is noteworthy. There is also a stone cross depicting the crucified Christ in front of the chapel. The village layout and the chapel offer different cultural and historical perspectives: one is about the form of the village as a whole, the other about a place of worship and its specific architectural details.

A Landscape Between Hillside and Wetland

The SvĂdovec Nature Monument lies in the southwestern part of the cadastral area. Field boundaries and old agricultural terraces have been preserved on its southern slopes. These features reflect a landscape shaped by agriculture and give a visit to the hillsides a different focus from one centred mainly on individual buildings.

Another landscape feature is the Rohozecký mokřad: this wetland lies about 300 metres southwest of the built-up area and consists of five pools and wet meadows along a small stream. The natural sites mentioned here therefore differ markedly in character. At Svídovec, the focus is on the hillside landforms and agricultural terraces; at the mokřad, it is on the combination of pools, meadows and stream. This can help you narrow down your interests rather than treating both places as the same kind of landscape experience.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

Marked cycle route 1 follows road III/37913 through Rohozec. A locally signposted link branches off from the marked cycle route and leads to HradÄŤany and Malhostovice, avoiding roads as far as possible. These are two distinct features to consider when planning: cycle route 1 passes through the village on a road, while the link to the two destinations follows routes away from roads as far as possible.

A green-marked hiking trail also runs along the western edge of the cadastral area, following the route Tišnov–Železné–Jamné–Rašov. Check the current trail markings before setting out. The cycling and hiking options each have their own location: cycle route 1 passes through Rohozec, while the hiking trail runs along the western edge of the cadastral area. Bear these differences in mind when putting together your activities.

Sports Area and Events

Rohozec’s sports area includes a volleyball court, a small football pitch and a children’s playground. Before planning a visit, check locally on the current condition and public availability of these facilities. Outdoor social and cultural events are also held at the sports area next to the fire-water reservoir. If you would like to include an event in your travel plans, check the dates in advance.

If you are looking for an apartment in Rohozec, first consider whether you would like your stay to focus mainly on village history, landscapes or marked routes.
