On the edge of Oslava Nature Park, Nová Ves combines natural features with a local history dating back to the early 15th century. Springs and yellow-marked trails offer different ways to explore the area during a stay. Svatá voda is in a side valley north of the village; Studánka U Berana is connected by trails between Senorady and Oslavany. The Rozmarýnové hody festival also gives a trip a seasonal focus.

Springs around Nová Ves

Svatá voda is a plentiful spring of very pleasant-tasting mineral water in a side valley north of Nová Ves. Another spring site is Studánka U Berana, also called Pramen U Dobré vody or Pramen lásky. It is one of the most productive water sources in the Oslava drainage basin. The three names refer to the same spring; Svatá voda is a separate place. The geographic references make it easy to tell the springs apart: Svatá voda is associated with the northern side valley, while Studánka U Berana is associated with the trail between two villages and its location in the Oslava drainage basin.

Trail destinations and directions

From Nová Ves, you can reach Studánka U Berana via a paved forest road and then a yellow-marked trail. The spring is 1.5 km from the village. Distance and route provide different kinds of orientation: the distance locates the destination, while the directions describe the sequence of the approach. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

The spring is also on the yellow-marked trail between Senorady and Oslavany. Another yellow-marked trail near Nová Ves runs from Oslavany through the Oslava Valley to Senoradský mlýn. The distinction is useful when choosing an excursion: one route description leads to the spring between the two villages, while the other identifies the valley and the mill as landmarks. This lets you plan around a specific destination rather than choosing based only on the trail marking.

Local history and past traditions

Nová Ves was founded around 1410 after the abandoned settlement of Řevušín, which was first mentioned in 1230. The dates refer to different events: 1230 is the first mention of Řevušín, while around 1410 is the founding of Nová Ves. Together, they show the sequence from the predecessor settlement to the later village foundation. The winemaking tradition also belongs to the past: Nová Ves is a former wine-growing community.

Another way to explore regional history is through the Majer stonemason family, which came from Nová Ves. They made stone crosses and statues that remain scattered across the wider surrounding area. Their work therefore extends beyond the village: the family came from Nová Ves, while their works can be found in the surrounding region. For travelers interested in crafts and local history as well as springs and trails, this offers a concrete example of regional stonework alongside the story of the village's founding.

A seasonal event

The Rozmarýnové hody festival is traditionally held in Nová Ves every year at the end of September. If you want to plan your trip around the event, check the date for the relevant year in advance. The recurring festival provides a clear seasonal point of reference; the springs, trails and historical topics offer other options for planning.
