Jiříkovice stretches across a broad valley on the right bank of the Roketnice stream. Distinct themes for a stay include the protected Loučky landscape area, paths through the village, and the history of the Battle of Austerlitz. You can focus on the landscape, outdoor activities, or historical connections.

Loučky, the Forest Park, and the Grunty Reservoir

The protected Loučky landscape area features ancient fruit trees, shrubs, flowering plants, and remnants of pollarded willows. If you would like to focus on nature in Jiříkovice rather than solely on architecture and the history of the battle, this offers a clearly defined point of interest. The plant communities described give the landscape a distinctive character, without requiring you to follow a set itinerary.

At the entrance to the Loučky landscape area is a forest park with climbing equipment for children and seating. Alongside the protected landscape, there is also a designated place with play equipment and places to sit. In summer, Grunty Reservoir is used for swimming. Loučky and the reservoir thus offer different experiences: protected habitats in one place, summer swimming in the other.

Walking and cycling routes

A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through Jiříkovice. By bike, the “Red Route of Emperor Alexander” passes through the village between Blažovice and Grunty pond. Another cycling circuit across the Slavkov battlefield heads north to Jiříkovice. The reference points differ: Blažovice and Grunty are along the red circuit, while the other cycling route focuses on the Slavkov battlefield and the direction toward Jiříkovice. This makes it easier to identify the thematic connection that best suits your route.

The Battle of Slavkov educational trail also offers a tangible connection to the region’s history: it includes the PS23 Jiříkovice observation point on cycling route 5131. From this point, you can see the central and northern parts of the Austerlitz battlefield. This makes PS23 a named landmark for visitors who want to take in not just a route, but also the extent of the battlefield during their stay.

Historic places and cultural themes

Panský dvůr was formerly a fortress and military hospital. At the start of the Battle of Austerlitz, a French division’s ambulance unit was moved to Jiříkovice and housed in the farm buildings of Panský dvůr. The building’s former use and this specific event give the site two distinct historical connections: its role as a fortress and hospital, and its part in providing medical care during the battle.

The Jiříkovice bell tower is regarded as a witness to the fighting and was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic in 1996. Together with Panský dvůr, it offers distinct historical points of interest: a building with a former military use, and a bell tower associated with the fighting and officially designated as a cultural monument.

Cultural themes also include the traditional Jiříkovské hody, a folk event featuring folk music and popular traditions. They add another aspect of village life to the history of its buildings and the battle. Visitors can also rent the Jiříkovice sports hall; reservations are made by phone.
