Židlochovice combines nature at Výhon with architectural history, cycling and an outdoor municipal swimming pool. The nature park covers the entire Výhon Massif; in the town, a Baroque church, the town hall with a historic cellar, and the separate access arrangements for the château and château park are also highlights. These different points of interest offer a range of perspectives on Židlochovice.

Nature Park and Educational Trail at Výhon

Výhon Nature Park covers the entire Výhon Massif, an area of around 1,700 hectares. It extends across the cadastral areas of Blučina, Židlochovice and Nosislav; the park was established in 2002. Výhon is therefore described as a landscape area that extends beyond the boundaries of any one town. The Krajinou Výhonu educational trail adds another perspective through its information boards. They cover geology, flora, fauna, palaeontology, archaeological finds and the relationship between people and the landscape. Visitors interested in both natural history and the links between landscape and human history will find these topics side by side along the trail.

Observation Tower and Cycling Route

Akátová věž Výhon is an observation tower on Výhon. Built in 2009, it is made of concrete, metal and black locust wood. Its year of construction and materials give the tower a distinct architectural character alongside the themes of the educational trail. It is open around the clock and free of charge; access by car is prohibited. Check the latest access information before your visit and take the restriction on car access into account when planning.

The long-distance Brno–Vienna cycling route passes through the cadastral area of Židlochovice: along Masarykova Street and across the square, then beside the river over a footbridge and onto a dedicated cycle path. The street and square, the riverside section and the cycle path that follows provide specific guidance on the route.

Baroque Architecture, Wine Traditions and Planning Your Visit

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built between 1724 and 1730 to designs by J. L. Hildebrandt, a Baroque architect from Vienna. Its construction dates and architect make it a clearly defined architectural landmark in Židlochovice. Visitors interested in Baroque architecture can contrast it with the landscape-focused attractions at Výhon.

The town hall houses the Regional Tourist Information Centre, which includes a wine shop, and a historic cellar that has been opened to visitors. The cellar is used, among other things, to present local winemaking traditions. Ask locally about the specific access arrangements for the cellar. The RTIC sells tourist and wine-related maps of the Židlochovicko region. The maps cover the region, while the cellar presents local winemaking traditions.

Access arrangements differ at the château: Židlochovice Château is not open to the public, while the adjacent château park is open to the public. Check the current access rules before your visit. The municipal outdoor swimming pool has a 50-metre pool for swimmers, offering a distinct attraction alongside the landscape, cycling and culture.
