Drásov brings together medieval architecture, a varied landscape and local festivals. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross offers a glimpse into the town’s architectural history; at Drásovská studánka and in Močidla Park, nature and the area’s former use take centre stage. Archaeological traces date back long before the church was built. Depending on your interests, you can get to know Drásov through its culture, landscape or events.

The Church and the Town’s Long History

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a state-protected cultural monument. The single-nave building has a square west tower dating from the mid-13th century. Its Late Romanesque core also dates from this period; the chancel is Gothic. These architectural features offer two distinct perspectives on the church’s architectural history: its Late Romanesque core and the Gothic addition of the chancel. A pilgrimage associated with the church takes place on the Sunday around 14 September. If you wish to plan your trip around it, check the exact programme for the relevant year.

Settlement traces in the cadastral area of Drásov span the entire prehistoric period, reaching back to the Early Stone Age. Extensive settlements with cremation burial grounds from the Late and Final Bronze Age, as well as from the Roman Imperial period, lay north and northeast of the present-day settlement. The town’s history therefore extends far beyond the medieval church. Its history is reflected not only in architectural features, but also in a long sequence of prehistoric and ancient settlements.

Landscape, Spring and Park

Drásov lies in the central part of the Boskovice Furrow, which is bordered by the peripheral areas of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Permian deposits are found beneath the furrow, which includes the cadastral area of Drásov: arkosic sandstones, Baliny conglomerates and clay shales. This geological context adds a deeper time dimension to the landscape.

Drásovská studánka lies at the foot of a gentle slope on the edge of the Lubě floodplain. The two-hectare area is at an altitude of 268 to 280 metres. It includes a spring, a small stream and park-like stands of trees, consisting mostly of native species. Together, these features create a clearly defined natural area shaped by water and woodland.

The park north of Drásov was created in the 1990s by landscaping the Močidla area. During the First Republic, it was a venue for various celebrations, social gatherings and open-air theatre. Its history links the development of the site with the community’s cultural life in the past, offering a perspective distinct from the geology of the furrow and the natural setting around the spring.

Another point of interest is the Naučná myslivecká FIT stezka Drásov, an educational trail in the woods near Drásov. It combines nature and hunting-related topics with additional exercise elements. If you plan to include the trail in your itinerary, check its current access and condition in advance.

Events and Local Traditions

The Drásovská stopa event took place on 23 May 2026 as its tenth edition. The 2026 event was aimed at hikers and cyclists of all ages. It offered short routes with added competitions for parents with children, as well as longer routes for fit individuals and groups. Routes may vary from one edition to the next, so check the date and specific offerings for any future trip.

The invitation to Drásovské hody 2026 welcomed the general public, whether dressed in traditional costume or not. The traditional festival includes raising the maypole. This makes the Hody a different kind of event from the church pilgrimage: here, the local festival takes centre stage, while the pilgrimage is a religious occasion around 14 September.

The Česnekové slavnosti organised by Farm Podal also offer a distinctive experience. The traditional event includes tastings of the farm’s garlic varieties and direct sales of these and other farm products. The eighth edition took place on 18 July 2026. If you would like to attend a future edition, check the event date. Alongside the historical and landscape-related attractions, the festival offers a tangible insight into local produce, without requiring you to build your entire travel itinerary around a single theme.
