Historical traces and landscape features can be found in different parts of Přehořov. St. Anne’s Church and its cemetery are located in the centre and shape the townscape with their prominent position. Outside the town centre, a Jewish cemetery, a memorial plaque and a preserved remnant of a park offer further insights into the past. Anyone looking for a holiday apartment in Přehořov can first consider whether their trip will focus more on architectural history, Jewish heritage or the landscape.

St. Anne’s Church and Local History

The St. Anne’s Church complex includes an enclosure wall, two gates and four chapels. The church was originally early Baroque and was remodelled into its present form at the beginning of the 19th century. The wall, gates and chapels are part of the entire complex, not merely separate architectural features. There is also a wayside chapel on the western edge of the town, probably dating from the late 18th century.

Local craft history is also part of the town’s story: weaving flourished in Přehořov after numerous weavers had been trained there. A small Jewish settlement had existed in Přehořov since the beginning of the 17th century. This historical period offers a different perspective on the town from the architectural history of the church.

Jewish Heritage and Remembrance

The Jewish cemetery is at the edge of the forest, about 1.5 kilometres southeast of Přehořov, in the direction of the village of Lžín. It was established before 1723. In its first decades, it served Jews from Přehořov, Soběslav, Veselí and Zlukov. Two gravestones belonging to the same person have been preserved in the cemetery: Lea, also known as Elisabeth or Eleanora Wimmer. The site thus links a specific burial place with a story that extends beyond Přehořov to include several communities.

A synagogue of unknown age stood on the road leading north from the village square; it was demolished in 1960. A memorial plaque commemorates Jan Veselý, an RAF pilot born in Přehořov. It is located in front of the municipal office and bears the silhouette of an aeroplane. The cemetery, former synagogue and memorial plaque mark different aspects of Jewish life and remembrance in the town, without representing the same historical period.

Landscape, Trails and Historical Perspective

The Dírenský potok stream flows through Přehořov. The preserved remains of the château park lie on the northeastern edge of the town: the grounds are divided into sections, and the park remnants date from the first half of the 19th century. A second avenue was laid out in 1822, running from Přehořov to Kvasejovice. Together, these features show different connections with the surrounding area—from the stream in the town to historic landscape features on its outskirts and beyond.

A yellow-marked hiking trail also passes through Přehořov. As local trail markings may change, it is advisable to check the current signage before setting out. This makes the hiking trail a separate option to include in your plans, while the historical sites mentioned each retain their own geographical context.

The Přehořov Traktoriáda is also associated with two specific editions: the second took place in 2022, and the fifth in 2025. For a visit focused on history or landscape, the places described and their different locations provide a clear basis for weighing your interests when choosing a holiday apartment and planning your stay.
