Hostavice brings nature and local history to life in specific places: the V Pískovně Nature Reserve lies on the border with Dolní Počernice, while the Hostavický zámeček has historical significance in the old village centre. The Hostavický potok divides the area into two parts. Together, these details offer different points of interest to help you plan your trip—from wetlands and waterbirds to historic buildings and Pilská Park.

Wetlands, water and birdlife

Hostavice lies in Klánovice–Čihadla Nature Park. The V Pískovně Nature Reserve is located on the border between Hostavice and Dolní Počernice. It is notable for its high biodiversity, including rarer aquatic and wetland plants. It is also an important ornithological area where several waterbird species regularly breed. The plant life and breeding birds represent two distinct nature-related themes: when choosing your trip, you can consider which of these interests you most.

The waterways also help put the landscape into context. The Hostavický potok divides Hostavice into two parts and flows into the Rokytka at the Čihadla dry flood basin. While the nature park places Hostavice within a wider landscape, the stream describes a specific division of the area and a named route to the Rokytka. This makes it possible to explore the area’s natural setting through both the nature reserve and the location of the area and its waterways.

Village centre and historical traces

Archaeological finds suggest that Hostavice was probably founded as an archbishop’s estate in the first half of the 13th century. The oldest written mention of the area dates from 1432. The presumed founding and the oldest written record are two different historical milestones: one indicates a likely date of origin, while the other is a dated reference.

Another chapter in the area’s history leads to the Hostavický zámeček. The building, known as a small château, was erected in the old village centre on the site of the former farmstead No. 9. In 1934, Tomáš Baťa’s company bought the Kolman farmstead, including its farm buildings, château, park and associated land; the Hostavický zámeček was also part of the property. These details connect the small château to the history of a larger farmstead and property complex.

The bell tower also has a tentative date: a container found during repairs is said to suggest that it probably dates from 1730. There is also a pedunculate oak in the village square. Its trunk circumference of 340 centimetres and height of 19 metres are two specific measurements. The area’s history can thus be traced through different kinds of evidence: a probable founding date, a written mention, historic buildings and a dated measurement of a tree.

Pilská Park

Pilská Park opened in 2015 and was designed as a space for relaxation and active leisure. Its revitalisation included a complete network of paths, a multi-purpose sports court and a children’s playground. If you would like to plan your visit around one of these facilities, check in advance what is currently open and available for use.

Hostavice therefore offers several clearly distinct themes to consider: the nature reserve with its aquatic and wetland plants and breeding waterbirds, the waterways, historical traces in the village centre, and the park as a place for relaxation and active leisure. You can prioritise these according to what interests you on your trip, rather than treating them as a set itinerary.
