In Čakovice, castle history, church architecture, a former industrial landmark, parks and an outdoor swimming pool each add a different dimension. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, it is worth deciding first what you want to focus on during your stay: historic buildings, classical music, green spaces or swimming? The local attractions offer specific points of reference while leaving you free to shape your trip around your own interests.

Castle History and Culture

Čakovice Castle was created in 1735 by converting an earlier fortress. Its history of construction therefore comprises two phases: the older fortress and its transformation into a castle. The annual Zámecká noc takes place in the castle courtyard. If you want the event to be a highlight of your stay, check the dates for your intended year of travel.

The Church of St. Remigius adds a different cultural note. It was built in the Neo-Romanesque style and is the only church of this name in the Czech Republic. Classical music concerts are also held in the church. The castle and the church thus appeal to different interests: the castle combines its architectural history with an annual event, while St. Remigius brings together church architecture and concerts. If you are planning a trip around a concert or Zámecká noc, check the dates in advance.

The former Čakovice sugar factory adds an industrial perspective to the area’s history. It was built by the Schoeller family in the mid-19th century. The castle, church and sugar factory therefore represent different historical themes: the conversion of a fortress, Neo-Romanesque religious architecture and the former sugar industry.

Parks and Outdoor Swimming

Part of Čakovice Castle Park serves as a biocorridor. Its largest circular feature consists of a pond with water lilies and a rose garden. Husův Park in Čakovice covers approximately seven hectares. The two park descriptions emphasize different aspects: the castle park’s ecological function and specific garden features, and the approximate area of Husův Park. You can therefore take these different features into account when choosing which green spaces to visit.

Koupaliště Čakovice outdoor swimming pool adds a swimming focus to the cultural attractions and parks. It has two 50-metre pools and a designated children’s area with play features. If swimming is an important reason for your trip, check the opening dates for your travel dates.

Getting There by Train
