In Lobodice, a cycling route, a protected floodplain forest and historic buildings meet at the village square. The Moravská stezka runs through the village; the Zástudánčí National Nature Reserve extends across the cadastral areas of Lobodice and Tovačov. This lets you focus on different interests when planning your trip: nature and birdlife, a cycling tour or a glimpse of the village’s history.

Floodplain Forest and Birdlife at Zástudánčí

The Zástudánčí National Nature Reserve protects a preserved floodplain forest along an unregulated stretch of the Morava River and a rich bird-breeding area. It covers 111.2782 hectares and was designated on 24 February 1953. Its protected status and designated area give the landscape a clear focus; the protected area extends across the cadastral boundaries of Lobodice and Tovačov.

The reserve is considered an important undisturbed zone for bird species sensitive to disturbance. White-tailed eagles, ospreys, black kites and goosanders can be seen there. For nature enthusiasts, the appeal lies especially in the birdlife and the riverside habitat. These species are possible sightings, not guaranteed encounters.

Through Lobodice on the Moravská stezka

If you are planning a trip by bike, the Moravská stezka is a route that runs through Lobodice. From the signpost in the village, route 5040 continues towards Kojetín. This direction can help with your planning; check the signs and route number locally before setting off.

Fishing is also among the leisure activities described: it is possible in Lobodice directly on the Morava River. Nearby, Skašovské jezero is another fishing spot. The two locations differ in their setting—one by the river, the other by the nearby lake. If you plan to fish at either location, check the applicable fishing regulations separately.

Buildings on the Village Square and Along the Road

On the village square stands the parish Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, a valuable Baroque building dating from 1771. In the park on the square, in front of the church, a life-size sandstone statue of St John of Nepomuk stands on a tall plinth. The church and statue thus offer two distinct historical focal points in the same square: Baroque architecture here, and a sandstone figure there.

Also on the village square is the preserved house No. 47, a Žudr with exterior vaulting that dates from the 17th century, along with the house. Another point of interest is the preserved building of the Lobodice power station: part of the original façade bears the inscription “Elektrárna města Kojetína” and an archiepiscopal coat of arms with the year 1704. These architectural details add a technical trace to the older dates found on the village square.

Two other historic features outside the square are associated with Polkovice, though in different ways: the four-sided wayside shrine known as Boží muka stands on the right side of the road from Polkovice and dates from the mid-19th century. The stone cross stands at the crossroads to Polkovice and dates to 1717. Together with the church from 1771, these dates mark different periods in history, without implying a single, unified building history.

Hody and Trip Planning

Hody festivities are held in Lobodice each year towards the end of summer. No current date is specified, so if you would like to plan your trip around this occasion, check the dates for the year you have in mind. This lets you time your visit accordingly, while the cycling route, birdlife and buildings reveal the village’s different sides throughout the year.

When choosing a holiday apartment, you can start by deciding what you want your trip to focus on: the Moravská stezka and the direction of Kojetín, wildlife observation at Zástudánčí or the historic buildings in the village.
