In Grymov, village history and routes for active days come together. The chapel and Hranečník are tangible historical landmarks; the cycle path along the Bečva is suitable for walks, running, cycling and inline skating. There are also two running events with different course profiles. This lets you plan your stay around your interests—whether culture, exercise or a race date is the deciding factor.

Village History and Monuments

Grymov was founded in 1787 by dividing up the former Radslavice estate; this created 24 farmsteads. Between 1860 and 1863, the Chapel of St John the Baptist was built in the village square in place of a bell tower. It is a cultural monument. A statue of Marie Hostýnská stands in front of the chapel.

In the garden by the municipal barn is Hranečník, dating from 1768. It is listed as an immovable cultural monument in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments. Grymov has also preserved the Easter customs of Velikonoční klepání and Pomlázka, also known as Tatarování. The history of local transport includes the flood of 1880, which destroyed the old crossing near Vrbovec; a bridge was built in 1881.

Cycle Routes and Activities Along the Bečva

The cycle path near Grymov connects to cycle route No. 6035, which runs between Nad Hubertem, Lhota, Pavlovice u Přerova and Radslavice. The cycle path also forms part of the Cyklostezka Bečva and the Greenway Kraków–Moravia–Vienna cycle route. Check the current signage locally when planning your route.

As well as cycling, the cycle path along the Bečva is suitable for walks, runs and inline skating. Tree-lined lanes and well-maintained green spaces border the unpaved roads in Grymov. There is also a tennis court at the sports complex by the Bečva. This offers different ways to stay active: walk or skate along the cycle path, use the unpaved roads, or consider the tennis court as another local option.

Two Running Events, Different Courses

The Grymovská desítka is a spring race on paved unpaved roads. Children also compete over shorter distances. In 2011, the race was extended to 10 kilometres. The Grymovská podkova has a different profile: it is an 8.2-kilometre cross-country race, running mostly over unpaved surfaces—along the edge of a field, across a racetrack and on unpaved roads.

Participants in the Grymovská podkova can also run a 4-kilometre course; children have a short circuit. The surface is a clear difference between the events: the Desítka course follows paved unpaved roads, while the Podkova course is mostly unpaved. If you plan to take part in a race during your trip, check the event dates before you travel.

Plan Your Journey and Stay

Grymov’s bus service is part of the public transport network of the Olomoucký kraj. On weekdays, buses run approximately every two hours. Check the current timetable when planning a bus journey. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Grymov, you can decide in advance what to focus on during your stay: local history, activities on the routes or a running event.
