Bohuslávky offers two clear starting points for planning your trip: Obora Forest with the Študentova lesní naučná stezka and tangible evidence of the town’s history. Nature and history offer different focuses. You can decide in advance whether you would like to centre your stay on the forest and landscape, historic sites or both.

The trail through Obora Forest

The Študentova lesní naučná stezka leads through Obora Forest and starts at a tourist shelter next to the road from Bohuslávky to Dolní Újezd. Five information boards cover flora, fauna and life in the forest. Plants, animals and forest life therefore set the trail’s thematic scope. It is suitable for young children and can be walked with a pushchair. Check local access conditions before your visit.

The trail is named after the local forester Ing. František Študent. His name has been associated with forestry in the forests and surroundings of Bohuslávky for more than 60 years. The trail thus connects information about the forest with a local link to forestry. If you are interested in the landscape and how it is used, the trail offers insight into local forestry history alongside the topics covered by the information boards.

Forest and landmarks

Obora lies west of Bohuslávky; to the north, the forest is bordered by the Class III road between Bohuslávky and Dolní Újezd. A 200-year-old pedunculate oak is a prominent feature of Obora and is also regarded as a landmark of Bohuslávky. The forest and the oak tree offer different perspectives on the natural setting: the forest can be understood in its geographical context, while the tree is also linked to the identity of the town. These are two concrete aspects to help guide your interest in the landscape and the character of the town when planning your trip.

Chapel, crosses and local history

The Chapel of All Saints in Bohuslávky dates from 1809. One cross stands by the chapel; a second is at a wayside cross on the road towards Trnávka. Kovaříkův grunt farmstead, house number 6, is another of the town’s sights. The cultural highlights therefore include a religious building, crosses and a farmstead.

The first written mention of Bohuslávky dates from 1322 and appears in the so-called Osecký misál. The two dates mark different historical points of reference: 1322 is the first written mention of the town, while 1809 is the date of the chapel. This means the town’s recorded history goes further back than the specific date of this building. If you are interested in history, Bohuslávky offers both an early written reference and named sights in the town.

Getting there by bus and train

A bus connection from Bohuslávky links up with train services from Lipník nad Bečvou towards Přerov, Olomouc and Ostrava. This gives you a practical starting point if you would like to combine bus and train travel. Check the current timetable before setting out. You can then factor the journey into your plans and decide whether the forest nature trail, local history or both will be the focus of your stay.
