When choosing accommodation in Lipova Lazne, it helps to consider your travel dates and the activities you want to focus on. The town’s spa history can be seen at the museum, a historic spring and the church in Horní Lipová; outdoor options include viewpoints, a nature trail and cycling trails. There are also the Na Pomezí Caves and a small zoo. The practice golf area and scooter rental at Lázeňský vrch are part of the summer offering. Check the operator’s current visitor information for the Na Pomezí Caves.
Spa History Between the Museum and the Spring
The Muzeum Johanna Schrotha presents the development of spa treatments and the history of Lipova Lazne. A specific historical landmark is the Pramen Císaře Josefa II. in Horní Lipová: when Emperor Joseph II visited on September 1, 1779, water was brought to him there. A memorial pillar commemorates the event. The church in Horní Lipová adds a building to the picture of local history: it was solemnly consecrated on November 2, 1788. The single-nave building has a simple Neoclassical design and features a massive tower and a rectangular-ended presbytery, or chancel. To this day, the church is a prominent landmark in Horní Lipová.
Views, a Nature Trail and Cycling Trails
A restored chapel near Dívčí skály lies above the Pramen Císaře Josefa II.; from the chapel, the view extends to the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains. Those who want to learn more about local history along the way can follow the Naučná stezka Johanna Schrotha, an 8.5-kilometre route with ten stops. The stops focus mainly on the history of the surrounding area. The nature trail thus offers a different focus from the view at the chapel: along the route, the history of the surrounding area takes centre stage.
The Lipovské stezky comprise two blue trails and one black trail. Two more trails can be reached via a signposted transfer and the climb up the nearby Toč mountain. Compared with the Rychlebské stezky, the Lipovské stezky are less demanding, making them suitable for families with children and beginners. This comparison can help you choose a cycling focus: it applies to the Lipovské stezky, not to all the town’s activities in general.
Plan for the Caves and Faunapark
The Jeskyně Na Pomezí cave complex includes a visitor route more than half a kilometre long. Named chambers include Ledový dóm, Bílý dóm, U Smuteční vrby, Římské lázně, Klenotnice and Královský komín; the description also mentions stalactite formations, cascades and small lakes. From May 18, 2026, until the end of 2026, the caves will be closed to visitors. Do not plan to visit them during this period.
The Faunapark in Horní Lipová is a small zoo with pumas, an Ussuri tiger, kangaroos, meerkats, several parrot species, alpacas, llamas, an ostrich, turtles and other animals. By car, the Faunapark can be reached via road II/369; free parking is available there. By train, get off at Lipová-lázně station.
Summer Activities and Getting There
In summer, Lázeňský vrch offers a practice golf area and scooter rental with excursion tips. If either of these activities is an important part of your stay, check in advance whether it will be operating during your trip. This will help you fit seasonal activities into your travel dates without assuming they are available year-round. For getting to the Faunapark, the access by car via road II/369 with free parking and the Lipová-lázně railway station are useful points of reference.
