A green-marked hiking trail in Wlastiborsch (Vlastiboř) leads from the partisan sculpture group near the Sokolovna, via a forester’s hut, to the partisan dugout. It provides a specific route for exploring the area and connects the local landscape with a chapter in the history of the village.

Landscape and surroundings

Wlastiboř lies on the eastern slope of Strážník Mountain. Part of the village is situated in a valley that slopes down to the east and is formed by the slopes of Strážník and Veselka. The mountain slope and valley are therefore distinct landscape features that are part of the village’s description.

The valley of the Kamenice stream lies nearby. Because of this proximity, recreational use predominates in WlastiboĹ™. The well-known Bozkov Caves are another point of interest in the surrounding area. A restored bell tower is also among the notable local features.

Local history and memorial sites

The settlement was established during the Czech colonization of the area around Železný Brod in the 14th and 15th centuries. The first written mention of Vlastiboř is dated to 1565, in copies of the tax registers of the Návarov estate. These copies mention seven farmers in the village of Wlastiborz. Thus, the settlement’s longer period of establishment and a specific 16th-century register entry are two distinct historical points of reference.

The partisan sculpture group stands near the Sokolovna in Vlastiboř. From there, the green-marked hiking trail leads via a forester’s hut to the partisan dugout. The Konstantin partisan group built the dugout in 1944. At the entrance stands a granite pylon dating from 1974, with a memorial plaque. The dates refer to two different objects: the construction of the dugout and the pylon.

Another monument in Wlastiborsch commemorates the victims of the First World War, 1914–1918. Together with the partisan memorial sites, it provides a second historical focus; the dates here refer to the war commemorated by the monument.

Plan your route and journey

If you plan to hike the trail, check the markings on site, as they may change. The route is described in a specific sequence: from the sculpture group via the forester’s hut to the dugout. This makes it possible to distinguish the route as a local highlight from visits to other destinations in the surrounding area.

The partisan memorial sites lie along this local route; the Bozkov Caves are a destination in the surrounding area. This distinction can help with planning: you can focus your stay on local history or also include a feature of the surrounding area.

Wlastiborsch has bus connections on weekdays. If you plan to travel by bus, check the timetable for your travel date. This lets you include the journey in your plans without combining the local route and destinations in the surrounding area into a single excursion.
