Among the attractions that make Drazov an interesting place to stay are the Late Baroque Chapel of St. Vitus, two mills, Uhelný vrch and a local cycling route. Together, they offer cultural history, landscapes and cycling to suit different interests. The conditions are also important when planning your visit: the chapel is only occasionally open, and you should check the current signs along the cycling route before setting out. Which option suits you depends on whether you would like to include architectural history, mills or a bike ride in your trip.

Cycling route: Direction matters

Local cycling route No. 2026 runs from Karlovy Vary to Chodov u Bečova through Drazov. The regional route description was last updated on 2 September 2013; check the current signs before setting out. Its difficulty depends on the direction: it is rated easy toward Karlovy Vary and moderate in the opposite direction. So the specific direction you plan to ride is important when deciding. The two ratings cannot be treated as equivalent across the board.

Uhelný vrch in Slavkovský les

Uhelný vrch, also known as Traben, is 733 m above sea level and the highest point in the cadastral area of Drazov. It is also one of the prominent peaks of Slavkovský les. These peaks are characterized by bodies of basic rocks from the Tertiary period. This places the mountain both in the local context of the cadastral area and in the geological context of Slavkovský les.

The Chapel of St. Vitus

In the center of the village, the Late Baroque Chapel of St. Vitus stands on a terrace beside the sloping village square. It was built in 1763–1766 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958. Its construction period, architectural style and protected status each offer different clues to the history of the building. The chapel is only occasionally open; check local opening arrangements before your visit.

Two mills, different stories

Nesenský mlýn has survived without major alterations. It lies 500 m north of the settlement of Dolní Dražov, on the Dražovský potok. Check its current condition again before travelling there. Milorův mlýn is an abandoned mill in the center of the settlement. The two names therefore represent different aspects of the history of milling: the preservation of the building on the one hand, and disused operations on the other.

Festival tradition and iron ore

Historically, the local church festival in honor of St. Vitus was held on the third Sunday in June; it developed into a fair-like folk festival. If you would like to combine your trip with a festival, check the dates for your travel period. Iron ore was also mined and transported to the smelters in Pila. Both the mining and the route taken by the ore are therefore historical themes associated with Drazov.
