Kellaki combines a village viewpoint with cultural events and destinations across the wider municipality. This gives you different options to consider for your trip: panoramic views, music and dance, or an excursion to a site in pine-covered terrain. The exact location also helps with orientation: the Zoodochos Pigi Convent is within the municipal boundaries, but outside the village.

The Convent and the Village Location

The Zoodochos Pigi Convent (Panagia Glossa) is about 1.5 kilometres southeast of Kellaki, in the direction of Sanida. Its surroundings are green, quiet and secluded. The distinction between the village and the municipal area is important when placing this destination in context: the convent is not in the built-up area. The viewpoint on Lhistovounou Road, on the other hand, is in Kellaki and offers a different geographical point of reference.

Panoramic Views over Kellaki

The viewpoint on Lhistovounou Road was completed in 2003. The paved area has a wooden fence, benches, tables, a shelter and parking spaces. From here, panoramic views extend over Kellaki and the surrounding mountains and communities. The seating and tables also make it a good place to take a break; the shelter and paved surface are part of its design. If you plan to visit the viewpoint, check the current access conditions in advance.

Cultural Evening and Easter Events

Kellaki’s cultural evening combines traditional and selected popular music with dancing. The programme also includes tributes to young students and other people who have received recognition. The official municipal description dates the start of the cultural evening to 2003 and places it in summer or autumn. Check the dates for the relevant year if you want to plan your trip around the event.

The official municipal description also mentions Easter events on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday at three locations: the cultural centre, the outdoor event venue and the municipal stadium. The cultural evening and Easter events therefore take place at different times of year. If one of these events is a key factor in your trip, check the dates for the relevant year in advance.

Excursion Site and Agricultural Produce

The “Archangel” excursion site was developed from 2012 onwards in the pine-covered area around the Chapel of Archangel Michael and was subsequently handed over to the local church for management. Its proximity to the chapel gives the site a religious connection; at the same time, its pine-covered setting differs from the paved viewpoint overlooking Kellaki and the surrounding communities. If you would like to visit Archangel, check the current access conditions in advance as well.

Agricultural production is also part of Kellaki’s character. Tomatoes, as well as apples, peaches, pears, nectarines, apricots and cherries, are grown in the village. Alongside cultural events and viewpoints, vegetable and fruit growing are also part of the area’s local identity. The variety of produce offers another way to get to know the village: Kellaki can be discovered not only through individual excursion sites, but also through its agriculture.
