Voloder combines wine traditions and cultural heritage with opportunities to explore the landscape. The town lies at the foot of Moslavačka gora, and the Srednjovjekovna staza cycling route also passes through Voloder. When planning your trip, it helps to distinguish between the town’s attractions and the routes in the wider mountain area.
Winegrowing and harvest customs
Voloder’s wine profile includes winegrowing and wine production in cellars, associated with the Škrlet, Chardonnay, Pinot bijeli and Frankovka grape varieties. The Moslavačka klet in Voloder is connected with the Moslavina Wine Roads. Along the wine roads, you can arrange tastings of indigenous wines, especially Škrlet, and traditional local specialities. Arrangements for traditional gastronomy must be made in advance.
Voloderska jesen also puts wine and harvest customs in the spotlight. Its 58th edition was a traditional event in Voloder. The programme included Dvor škrleta and the Stazama škrleta race; at the opening, KUD Moslavec from Voloder performed traditional customs. Check the event dates in advance.
Parish Church of Saint Anthony of Padua
The Parish Church of Saint Anthony of Padua was built and consecrated in 1863. Its single-nave Neo-Gothic structure has a massive bell tower, a polygonal sanctuary and two side chapels. Single-nave describes a layout with one main nave; the side chapels complement this arrangement. The organ was also made by Šimenc in 1863, so the church and instrument date from the same year. An excerpt from the Croatian Ministry of Culture dated 4 January 2021 lists the church as individually protected immovable cultural heritage under reference number Z-2837.
Cycling and hiking in Moslavačka gora
The Srednjovjekovna staza is a cycling route about 32 km long that passes through Voloder. It climbs gradually through vineyards, orchards and wooded areas and is classified as demanding. When assessing the route, consider both its approximate length and its elevation gain and difficulty rating. Check local conditions before setting out.
Voloder lies at the foot of Moslavačka gora. The nearby mountain landscape has marked hiking trails through wooded hills. The area also features streams, small waterfalls, viewpoints, geological features and medieval archaeological sites such as Jelengrad, Garić grad, Bela crkva and Košuta grad. Horse riding is another activity: OPG Petters offers a riding school and recreational riding in Voloder. Make arrangements before you arrive.
Cycling and hiking offer different ways to plan: for the cycling route, the length, elevation gain and demanding rating are specified; the hiking trails pass through a landscape with natural features and medieval sites. You can choose whether you would rather explore a specific cycling route or marked trails with landscape and cultural features.
