Discover Erdut through three themes: historical sights, routes along the Danube and the town’s connection to wine. The buildings, landscape and viewpoints offer different highlights—without requiring a fixed itinerary for your stay.

Sights and landscape in Erdut

Sights in Erdut include Adamović-Čeh Castle, dating from the 19th century, the All Saints’ Church, the Church of Saint Archangel Gabriel and the Erdut Tower. The tower has a viewpoint overlooking the Vojvodina plain. If you want to visit individual sights, check access locally.

The educational trail in the Erdut Significant Landscape Area is accessible via the local health levels. Its viewpoints are used to observe white-tailed eagles and grey herons. Alongside the buildings, this offers a nature-focused option where you can make the trail and its observation points the main focus. Check the conditions and state of the route before setting out.

The Danube and its tributaries can also be explored along loess slopes up to 70 metres high. The route continues towards Aljmaš. This makes the river landscape and route its own focus alongside the individual sights; when planning, check outdoor access and trail conditions in advance.

Erdut is also associated with wine. This includes the Erdut Winery and an oak barrel with a capacity of 75,000 litres. Visitor arrangements may change, so check in advance what visiting options are currently available.

Culture and nature in Općina Erdut

The wider destination of Općina Erdut has other distinctive cultural sites. In the centre of Dalj is the “Teutoburgium” Wine Museum, established as a project by Erdut Municipality in collaboration with Osijek-Baranja County. The restored birthplace of Milutin Milanković houses a permanent exhibition about his life and work and is also home to the “Milutin Milanković” Cultural and Scientific Centre.

Dalj also offers insights into different periods and architectural styles: the Patriarchal Court, once the summer residence of Serbian patriarchs, dates from 1754. Hram sv. Dimitrija was built in 1799 on the foundations of an older church dating from 1715 and is considered Croatia’s largest Orthodox cathedral church. The archaeological park documents the “Dalj Idol”, an elaborately decorated female figurine from the Middle Bronze Age.

In Aljmaš, the Shrine of Our Lady of Refuge has been a pilgrimage site since 1704. In the wider destination of Općina Erdut, the trail area in the Erdut Significant Landscape Area is part of the Natura 2000 network and the UNESCO Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve. These places and areas complement the sights in Erdut with further cultural and landscape themes.

At the 2019 edition of the Podunavlje Cross/Trail, the blue course covered 34 kilometres from Erdut to Aljmaš and back to Erdut. This distance refers to that edition; check current event dates if you are planning to attend.
